Windy Day's Journal, 26 Feb 23

Started crocheting a summer weight cotton shawl to wear this spring/summer. I love shawls, wraps, scarves they are so cozy and pretty. I am justifying this one as the ones I already have are mostly fall/winter weight. If I can lose 5 lbs by Easter and have this shawl completed by then I will post a picture.

That would require about a one lb loss a week. Hopefully I can accomplish this small goal.

Happy Sunday everyone.

I am just about finished sewing my new flannel bath robe but it's too small. It will go into a box to be rediscovered when I weigh 25 pounds less. What colour is your shawl and what pattern are you using? Is it on Ravelry? It will be lovely.

Oh a flannel bathrobe sounds wonderful. I love natural fabrics. Cozy yet breathable. Actually a good thing to have something set aside as a motivator! You'll be wearing it before you know it. The yarn Im using is called Cafe Au Lait, which is a nice light coffee color. I figure it will go with many things. Im not using a pattern. I'm just winging it aiming for a loose knot/fishnet look. I have never been able to follow patterns very well. I'll likely have it finished before losing 5 lbs. LOL

You should see my frankensteined cardigan that I knit last year. It was a combination of 3 different patterns with added pockets. I learned a lot about while knitting it such as button holes, short rows and adjusting sleeve length. It will fit better when I lose weight. We have to plan ahead and hope for the best.

Nice to know I'm not alone in some of my less than perfected endeavors :) I bet it's beautiful. I started an afghan last winter and randomly changed up the yarn every so far on purpose. Every color, weight, and style. I havent finished it yet, but I will one day. It is reminiscent of a crazy quilt. Perfection is overrated. And that's how we learn. Cloudy day, rain expected here again. Going to need an ark soon.

We are going to have another storm this evening with high winds and more snow. We went grocery shopping after church and I got all my steps in. My goal for today is 4,000 steps and put my sewing supplies away. My knitting and beading supplies are still on the dinning room table ready for me to work on. Keep your hands and mind busy so you don't snack. We can do this.

Sounds beautiful, but cold. I love snow storms - but hate cold. Southern transplant from New England explains it I guess. That's great! I am averaging about 3300 steps daily. Sometimes closer to 4000 sometimes less than 2000, just depends on the weather. Im crocheting this afternoon. So far so good... We WILL do it.
