Shereen Donede's Journal, 05 Jan 23

Took the plunge and climbed on the scale. 3.6kg up in the 6 months since I've moved which isn't actually that terrible. I know where I need to focus. Crisps have been a big safety blanket here, and they are one of my red flag foods because they trigger other binge eating patterns so that's the first place I'll be trimming back. I've also had a fair bit of alcohol over Christmas which I'm done with again for a few months. Accountability and action, these are the two things that made me successful in losing over 20kgs and keeping it off .. at least I know when to stop now and how to get back into the good patterns
76.6 kg Lost so far: 21.4 kg.    Still to go: 8.6 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Ooh, I know - crisps are so darn good, but I will try to consume them on weekends only from this week. I have to weigh mine out otherwise I'll just devour. ;) I gained about as much when we moved and unfortunately it's taken me over a year to lose it again, but I believe you'll do it much faster! And some of it might just be water weight anyway and you'll be able to start from a much lower point next week already. Great to see you doing Parkruns! I did them for a few months a few years ago and it really did help with weight loss then. Our nearest one has a circuit that loops over itself though so it's put us off a bit. Accountability and action sounds exactly right! I look forward to cheering you on as you progress and I'm right here with you. You got this! xxx

Thanks Nikina. We've found the Parkrun is such a nice way to meet people who are also health minded. And for us it's around the corner from our house through a pretty woodland alongside a stream so it's a really nice way to starr our weekend.

@WaistAway - GIRL you are amazing. Just had a quick squiz on your profile. You are the definition of what consistency can achieve. You can be so proud of yourself. I'm happy to be back on the app. Seeing all the meals and goals really is motivating and inspiring. I think over the years I've definitely created a much better relationship between my mind and my body. I'm nicer to myself, so getting back into my routine feels like I'm being kind to an old friend.

@Shereen - you so sweet lady, but in truth it was people like you on this app that slowly also gave me reason and inspiration to change my outlook in all this, like when I started 3 years ago, man how green was I, it was like sure I’ll diet a while and lose weight, but not for a second did I foresee that this would be a years long journey of legit changing my lifestyle, and honestly, it was the “long timers” like you (and hey I guess I am one now too 🤣) that made a huge difference for me there. Speaking of being green - how is Ireland treating you x

The commitment is everything! Once the weight loss journey becomes a lifestyle of health rather than a decision to crash diet, then everything changes. Ireland is good. I miss home. I miss the lifestyle we had. But every day I'm here I am reminded why we made the right decision. There's a lot to look forward to here and my new work entails working full time within a field that cares for dogs now - which is an absolute dream! No more graphic design unless I actively seek it out through freelance so that I'm not as desk bound anymore!
