Jintygirl's Journal, 10 Aug 22

There is SO much I could record in my first journal entry since re-starting my diet about a month ago. But I'll try to keep it brief... lol... nae chance...

I wasn't feeling at all well - having been warned I was pre-diabetic sometime back, I thought I might have tipped over into diabetes land. So I went back on my diet that always works (based on the old Slimming Magazine Clubs diet) and it didn't. I expected to lose a good half stone in the first couple of weeks and didn't. So I tried limiting carbs as well as calories for a week, then I tried REALLY limiting my carbs, so I'd go keto and after a few days I had what felt like a hypo (having watched my late boyfriend have one and run for the jelly babies for him) - well, there haven't been any jelly babies in the house since he died, so I had a spoonful of jam and then some slow-release cereal and felt a lot better. Then that night I had a limited blow-out - a vegetable biryani and mushroom sekuwa from the local Nepalese restaurant and from the next morning - a week ago, I've stuck to my original diet (but complex carbs - wholemeal everything)... and... it's working again!

I think my body just needed a jolt - in the form of the low carb bit - to realise I was serious this time... lol... I couldn't afford to stick to a low carb diet for long in any case. I only eat organic meat and I'm on benefits. And anyway... Wo/man cannot live by smoked salmon salad alone... but while I'm here, I will share a photo of my favourite low-carb thing I had during that fortnight - avocado, raspberry and walnut salad, which came in at 9g net carbs and 344 calories (plus free veg I count separately) - I found it online somewhere... I can't share a photo of the chicken tikka I made (that recipe came from The Curry Guy), because I was so hungry that night, I scoffed the lot before I remembered I'd not taken a photo... I'll also share my favourite low carb/low cal breakfast, just so I get my Noddy egg-cup broadcast and because I still have some asparagus, I might well have the same this morning...

Anyway, 5 lbs gone this week. My daughter's getting married in a year and I so want to be a slim Mother of the Bride and as long as I lose 2 lbs a week from here on in, I will be - slim for the first time in 15 years. So fingers crossed the diet continues to work... and that the blood test results come back fine and dandy early next week too... xx p.s. Have a fab and groovy slimming week, everyone...
