This weekend was packed full of activity starting with a night hike. Hubby and I took the kids to a town close by to hike one of our favorite park; the event had Christmas lights lining each trail so you could see in the dark. Each trail had a different theme, dinosaur, fairies, animal, and dance. While walking on the dinosaur trail some volunteer workers rode up in the ranger asking the kids if they seen any dinosaurs because somewhere they lost them; it was great to see them get so into their role of patrolling the trail for safety. We ended our night by watching the waterfalls change colors with lighting.

Saturday we prepped and planted the garden boxes the best we could with the 30 mph wind gusts. We slept most of the afternoon away between being tired from all the outdoor work in the morning and the late night of Friday.

Sunday was church and an afternoon of relaxing around the house with movies and board games since it was even windier than Saturday and stormy.

Things I indulged in over the weekend for treats include mini doughnuts (our family split a bucket full during our hike), strawberry shortcake for desert on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a few squares of dark chocolate, and Carmel corn during movies (almost forgot because I portioned out 1 small bowl for myself)

Here’s to this week, looking forward to our warmer temps and hoping the weather changes so the wind dies down to finish up planting my garden, because I’m going to need to preserve as much food this summer as I can with my kids eating as well as they do, and lasts years drought caused me to not have so much extra to tie us over 😬
