Today has been our 2nd day without power. Amicalola finally started working on our road about an hour & a half ago. Fingers crossed they don't have any issues and we're back in business before dinner time.

We do have a small generator so we can run our fridge and small appliances like the coffee maker, toaster, etc. But, we don't have running water...we're on a well & no power to the well pump. We ran extension cords to our TV & modem late yesterday afternoon, giving us entertainment & wifi (that we need to get TV service).

We slept well last night, under the down comfortor. I don't usually sleep under it...too warm. We left the bedroom door open so the rising heat from the fireplace could help warm the bedroom.That was fine til the logs burned down & no one was up to put another on. It was 28 degrees at 9 this morning so the house was a little chilly.

Woo-hoo! Power came back on...finish updating later.

Continuing...So I may have just said screw it & indulged a few cravings. Although, our 1st meal yesterday other than coffee was @ 2PM & it was a sandwich & fruit. I debated having chips on the side....I still wanted them after I ate so I put some in a bowl to eat. I think I also had a cookie at some point. I had a small 2nd serving of black eyed pea "stew" last night. Dessert was a WHOLE Apple strudel. Today, breakfast was the usual fruit & 1/2 bagel with peanut butter, but I nibbled my way thru hummus & Cheez-its (1serving.... weighed it 😊) & 2 Christmas cookies.

When we weren't sure if we'd have power or not I planned on Lobster bisque (Costco) & salad with crusty bread for dinner. That's still the plan. We have plenty of food in the fridge & freezer, but cooking on the grill in the cold & avoiding making a mess to clean up influences our choices. Glad I can cook properly on the stove tonight...even if it is just soup. Taking down Christmas decor got put on hold, so I guess that starts tomorrow. And a bit more control of what I'm eating starts tomorrow, too.

Sounds eventful. You're a better cook than I am even without power, haha. Glad you are all restored.

Thanks DP! I saw photos of the feast you cooked 😊 I know you can cook, maybe just don't do it as often.

So, I woke up to the sound of a transformer blowing 😐 I am not amused. At least they're out there working on it already.
