Crap, I gained more than double my last week's weight gain! I avoided the low-carb cookies this week. However, I probably snacked a bit more between meals, but mostly small amounts of cheese puffs and a bag of mixed nuts and cheese crisps. I ate some chicken wings, but they were homemade (so virtually no carbs). I also ate some takeout poke salad with some sashimi last night. All of this in addition to my usual meals (breakfast: keto coffee + keto bar OR eggs/bacon/cheese; lunch: ground beef mix; dinner: nothing or takeout).

So, assuming that an extra pound is equivalent to 3,500 calories, 2.4 pounds gained = 8,400 extra calories in a week! That is 1,200 calories in a day! Assuming I eat 2,000 calories a day, that means 3,200 calories everyday! I don't know how I can eat 3,200 calories of food everyday. It is simply impossible to me. Even men don't eat that much. Maybe I eat too much fat, not to the point of eating more than a normal human being... I don't know, it sounds impossible.

Even though my cycle can be short sometimes, it has only been two weeks today since the start of my last period. So it cannot be premenstrual hunger.

I know that fasting is really popular in the interwebs these days, maybe even more so than intermittent fasting. At the end of the day, when you think about it, fasting is a way to cut excess calories; otherwise it doesn't really work. I understand that it works slightly differently from calorie counting because insulin is not released as often with fasting. But fasting still needs to be done forever as a lifestyle, or all the lost weight will be gained back when it is stopped. Even intermittent fasting is too much for me. I tried a couple of times, but it requires more control that I like. I cannot go much more than 12 hours without eating. With intermittent fasting, at least 16 hours must be spent without eating.

So that means going back to calorie counting, logging my food, weigh everything that goes into my mouth... ugh! I have no will and am very lazy. I know I don't have any excuses. But knowing myself, I must go slowly so that I don't revert to my bad habits. I could start with dropping the keto bar and only drink the keto coffee, but I don't like drinking without eating something. I could do the egg breakfast everyday, but then the keto coffee keeps me satiated for longer and I tend to snack more when I have my egg breakfast. I could simply stop snacking or eating takeout, but so far this has not worked out.

Despite my weight gain, my blood pressure is still fine these days. I can't complain too much!

Such a nice morning right now with a sunny sky, already 16C (61F) at 10 AM. Thunderstorms for this afternoon with warm to hot temperatures (24C/75F). At least it is still supposed to be nice tomorrow and Monday. In the Gatineau area, the curfew is moving from 8 PM to 9:30 PM on Monday, at last! Can't wait for the Quebec government to get rid of these curfews and the fines that go with them!

Calories equalling specific amount of pounds of fat is a faulty science. Our bodies are not furnaces. If you're trying to lose weight, lower the fat and bit. You want just enough to stay satiated, but not so much that your body won't burn off its own fat. If your snacks include high carb items (this can include many types of nuts), some of the weight gain could very well be water retention. Generally, when you get a fat macros calculation for keto, it's an ideal for maintenance, not weight loss--especially for us women. Try a tiny bit more protein and a little bit less fat.

I guess reducing fat may help... because my body sure does act like a furnace!
