moufette123's Journal, 03 Apr 21

Phew, I lost about half of the weight I gained last week! I did not eat differently in any significant way. Everything I put in my mouth was as usual. Still happy about this though.

The thing that is not going well is my blood pressure. One day, my systolic can be something like 125, but other days it can be 135 or even 145! I take my medication (2 drugs) each and every morning, around the same time. I really don't want to take a third drug, because it won't be long before I am deemed to suffer from resistant hypertension. At the end of the day, only a doctor will decide.

Speaking of doctors, I had a blood test done at a lab close to home for my anemia follow-up almost two weeks ago. I am waiting for a call from my doctor's office. I hope I get good news and that I won't have to go back to taking iron supplements again!

Vaccination is still non-existent for people under 65 (or 60, depending on the city) in Quebec, and of course, Gatineau (where I live) has been deemed a high COVID zone -- lots of new cases and variants -- and therefore is stuck with stricter measures than the rest of the province, with a 8 PM curfew (used to be 9:30 PM). This is a bit stressful, as I have to go see my mother in Montreal today and will have to be back home early! I don't like to spend the night at my mom's because the area where she lives gets noisy and it is hard to sleep. Sounds very fickle from me, I know!

Even when I don't have to go somewhere, I am irritated at curfews. When the sun sets past 8 PM, curfews are going to get old fast! And they don't curb infection rates in any way. People get infected during the day when they work or go to school. And people who party and gather in large groups do so past curfew hours and don't care about them, despite the $1,500 and $6,000 fines. In the Gatineau area, it is mostly people from Ottawa who buy cottages in Quebec and hold huge parties. They hate everything and everyone that is from Quebec, but they sure love the cheap beer and cottages! And old people from Ontario who already have cottages in Quebec get vaccinated before locals because they say that they live in Quebec, while having the nerve to complain about Quebecers going to Ontario hospitals for emergencies.

I think a part of these issues would be managed better if the Ottawa-Gatineau area was merged into a Washington, D.C-like area. However, I hardly see city and provincial governement officials from both provinces and cities in the area agreeing to this.

At least it's a sunny day today!

Excellent drop! I’ve that you’ll be able to get the COVID vaccine soon.

Living in Ontario, family in Montreal, but not going anywhere until vaccinated. My BIL in Montreal just turned 80 and isn't vaccinated, my mother is 86 and her hubby is 90, not vaccinated. But we're working on it, be patient, get vaccinated when it's possible, and hopefully we can all get back to some kind of normal. Good loss in spit of frustrations!

((HUGS)) Moufette. I was thinking of you the other day when I heard about the new Quebec restrictions. Take care and stay safe. Happy Easter weekend.
