drinkwaterx4's Journal, 30 Nov 13

Had a great trail run, close to 18 miles. Very cold - 21F but sun was out. All my running buddies elected to take the shortcut home at mile 14. I was determined to finish, spent literally 3/4 hr in the shower when I got home. Drinking around 50oz of Poweraid seems to make a big difference, just don't like carrying a camelback. The hills are getting much easier. Looking forward to my half-marathon race in North Carolina on December 14.

You are amazing. I am inspired. I had a talk with my daughter who loves to run (she's only 14 but has competed in cross country and track/field for her school for the past 5 years) and we made a deal to do a marathon together. She wants it to be one of the runs that raise funds for a good cause and I am fine with that. Research begins when I get home to see which one we will do and when. As "scared" as I am, I know I can do it! You truly inspire me with your grit!

That's great. My daughter got me into running. She ran cross country / track as well. I felt so proud watching her race. We started going on runs together, precious moments! I ran my first Marathon back in April (Blue Ridge Marathon - America's toughest road marathon!). I trained for 6 months. All it takes is a good training program (same as this site!). It also helps to belong to a club. I'm fortunate the Roanoke Valley is a hotspot for trail running, we have over 500 members in our club and weekly runs. Another adventure for you to take on!
