Small loss, but still a loss!

I have been eating pretty much the same foods as usual. I ate a poke bowl from takeout on Wednesday in lieu of my usual ground beef mix, because there was none left and the pack I had in my fridge was still frozen. They always put too much sweet mayo, so I don't order it often. They also messed up my order by leaving the rice despite my order stating that I wanted the salad (no rice) version. I simply did not eat the rice.

Last night, I felt hungry so I made the classic chaffle recipe (I always add 1 tbsp of almond flour in the mix.) I ate the 2 chaffles with a bit of butter and some homemade syrup: equal parts of Bocha Sweet (my favourite sweetener) and water, a dab of maple syrup extract, then I brought it to a boil. I also added a very small quantity of powdered gelatin to thicken the syrup because I really hate adding xantham gum to liquids. My chaffles were very good!

My blood pressure has been stabilizing after I moved my monitor last week. So it is still OK! I am happy about that!

It is so terrible what is happening in Texas, it seems like one of those "once in a millenium" climatic events. I hope people over there are OK and that some normality has returned.

This reminds me a bit of the January 1998 freezing rain storm we had in Western Quebec (south of the province mostly), and also parts of Eastern Ontario and the north of New England. It was not as cold outside as it has been in Texas this past week, but so cold inside once we lost power. Thankfully we were able to be sheltered at an acquaintance's house for a couple of days before our power came back. This was mostly a problem for people using electricity as their main (and whole) source of power. I think people using gas were at least able to keep themselves warm and maybe had their stove working, not sure about their fridge!

It is sunny where I am right now, -15C (5F). So good for the soul! However, according to the weather forecast, the clouds will be taking over soon and will be around for the rest of the day as the temperature rises. We are supposed to get around 15 cm of snow as soon as Monday, so more shovelling on the way for me!

Glad to hear your BP is stabilizing. I'm now off meds, as I kept fainting. I see my doc on Tuesday. Hopefully, my bp will be good there too.
