jlchambers2009's Journal, 07 Sep 13

Well, lots of weight loss, because I got a stomache bug, lol. But I got a lot of reading done while down for a few days, and one of the things I discovered is "starvation mode" is a load of pooh. So, here's to starting anew, a few pounds lighter, and with a new game plan.

I also bought a quilters tape measure, so I can track inches when I get discouraged with the lbs.

I'm not doing this for me... I am doing this for my unborn kids, cause frankly, I can't have kids while a McFatty.

What did you discover about starvation mode? Please, do share! :) Also, a tape measure is great motivation when the lbs don't seem to be coming off. I'm technically only down 1lb this week, but I've lost 3.5"! Good luck! I hope you're feeling better after that stomach bug!

I'd like to know what you found out about the starvation mode thing too. I've heard someone else say/write something like that and it was a very logical explanation. I'm curious to investigate this more. I'm a fan of having more than one thing to track progress. I'd only measure yourself, at most, once a week. Just a suggestion. Over-measuring can be as obsessive and discouraging as over-weighing yourself on the scale.

Jl - glad you're feeling better :) be careful with dismissing starvation mode altogether - I tend to gain the most when I have been eating very little. When I started seeing a nutritionist she told me I was malnourished and I thought it was hilarious but the more we reviewed my journals at that time I wasn't eating nearly enough. Especially not enough protein. So whenever I did eat a normal meal, I would gain even more. I try now to eat more of better food, think less about the scale and more about my health... though the past three weeks would call me a liar
