Vampirekitchen's Journal, 19 Oct 20

The last two weeks have been a roller coaster with my husband being hurt and home every day. It has been an ordeal, to put it mildly. I thought this was finally the time when he’d get the back surgery he’s been needing for six years but he decided against it- yet again- because he’s afraid that if surgery fails, he won’t be able to return to work and finish until his set retirement date. I’m bitterly disappointed that it will be another five years of pain and exhaustion for him when he has the chance of eliminating it for good. I feel very empty watching him get dressed this morning and return to work. The good news is that while the last two weeks have been an emotional and physical drain, I kept to my weight loss plan except some of the daily exercises. I can deal with a lot of things but doing planks on the gym floor was too hard for my ego to endure. So, no there’s no great weight loss to show for it, but I have confidence that I’ve truly started to shed old habits for good. Five years until retirement and I want to be ready.

Sorry to hear your husband passed on getting surgery. It can be so difficult when loved ones choose differently than we would for them. Don't forget to take time out for yourself. We all need to find moments where we can de-stress and collect moments of peace away from demands that everyone places on us. Even if it can only come in 5 or 10 minutes at a time.
