GourmetPoisons's Journal, 25 Jul 20

Shame spiral incoming, and I didn't even blow the calorie count on the diet. Was down yesterday by 1.8 pounds and then pushed right back up by 0.8. For some reason that made me furious with myself. I give up easy when it comes to healthy living. One day of bad results and I'm off to Taco Bell because fuck it, I'm up. Dumb as it is, that's exactly what happens every time. Ugh. Not even up by that much, but I have no dedication to bettering myself because I feel like everyone around me is indifferent to my wanting to change.

It doesn't matter if others are indifferent. Do it for yourself.

Yeah, I know. Just in a place today. Thank you, though. You're right.

Be kind to yourself! That can take many forms but in this instance I think specifically be kind by realized that 1.8lbs down in one day is not fat, it's water. That's going to fluctuate so when you see 1.8 you have to know that some of that is going to come back. Going back up after that should be expected! And you're still down by 1lb overall!! This journey is not about your weight yesterday or today or tomorrow, it's about making healthy changes and creating a lasting change in your body. It is slow and your body needs encouragement and kindness to get there. Deep breaths. You can do this. Be kind.

Thanks MeghanJP. I appreciate it. I try to keep all of that in mind, but this morning I woke up with the wrong attitude and ended up in a funk. I will be kinder to myself and hopefully apply that to others, as well. Thanks again!

In reality, people don't trully care for changes, especially if the change is hitting too close to home. Ask yourself, why do you want to loose weight. Health? Fit into stylish clothes? Being able to walk up the stairs? You need to know your goal, and you'll reach it. 2 steps forward, 1 back, but you'll get there. Good luck! 👍 P.S. I'm also still on my journey to the body that I want 🤞

Start again - forgive yourself and try to focus on why you want to do this. This from someone still struggling.

Thanks Zaza and Kwe. Working on the outside and in. The goal is to be healthier in mind and body. Have a long way to go for the overall ideal of either. 😂 I appreciate your comments.

I hope everyone knows that weight fluctuates every single day. And that you don’t eat before you weigh in. You all are amazing and should give yourself a break.

Thanks spookedy. I realize it, but just know the road I took before, which set me into frustration and panic. I think seeing the support has helped me realize how silly I was being, and hopefully that message will stick this time.

That’s ok! I’m overweight by about 10-20 pounds, and it’s helped me learn that weight actually fluctuates everyday! But what can help is, when you wake up and before you eat anything else, you should drink lukewarm lemon water. It tastes terrible, but it’s so worth it. I literally lost 6 pounds after this (not counting weight fluctuations, so probably more like 3 or 4 pounds) and it was amazing!

i know your pain and often feel the same.

Thanks Emma. I'll give it a shot. Mjuvatop, I'm with you. We'll get through. It's a crappy feeling, though.

I would way yourself once a week because a person should fluctuate up to two pounds each day and your on supposed to loose 2 pounds a week it’s unhealthy to loose more though you could go down 4 pounds between 3 days you’d regain 2 the rest of the days vice versa

You continue to commit to your change - even in the face of those challenging feelings. Slip-ups and bad days are a part of life, whether you are at your initial end goal, beyond or just beginning. It’s how hard we are on ourselves that can keep us down. It sounds like you’ve gotten down before and you just keep going! That is what matters. As for others not recognizing your desire to change - they often won’t. People have their own problems or their distracted or a million other things. However, it is important you have some people around you who celebrate your successes and support you in your struggles - find those people! Lots of love.

Don’t let one bad day turn into a bad week or month. Forgive yourself and move on - back to the healthy food plan. That’s what I try to do- just not beat myself up so bad about getting side tracked.

Me too, I NEED positive reinforcement.
28 Jul 20 by member: Charades Ashanti
One thing that I had to learn is if I relied on positive reinforcements from others I was immediately setting myself up for failure. People aren't going to see you the way you see yourself... sometimes they are indifferent because they are already conscious about themselves, sometimes they are focused on their own things, and sometimes they truly just accept you for who you are right now. I'm not saying that any of those should be your focus, what I am saying is that no matter what anyone else thinks or tells you shouldn't matter. you've got to loose weight for YOU and you alone. you are worth fighting for and I guarantee that consistent effort will show progress in the long run. don't look at your weight from one day to the next, give yourself a broader perspective and see the long term success. are you healthier than a year ago? if so, great! if not, focus on being able to say yes next year. I promise that there will be wretched days. I promise that there will be times you step on the scale and you feel like crying, and screaming, and trying harder, and giving up all at the same time.... there will be clothes you want to wear that even with dedication won't fit right away, and maybe they will never fit - but that's OK. life is full of unexpected setbacks, but you can't deny math and you cannot reject that healthy eating and a balanced lifestyle will result in a healthier body. keep moving forward and no matter what happens..... or who doesn't support you....... don't - q.u.i.t. 😉
