Are we downhearted that the scales say exactly the same as last week? Not in the slightest.

If I take an average of my daily weigh-ins last week and this, I have in fact lost 1 and 6/7 of a lb and I lost an average of 2 and 4/7 of a lb, on average, the week before.

In case this is a mini-plateau (and I doubt it), I've slightly tweaked the rules, so that if I go two weeks' running without losing 2 lbs on average, my minimum daily exercise walking goes up by half a mile.

But I am so proud of sticking to my diet this week. With one day's notice, a friend came down to London and took me out for pizza. I saved calories the night before and starved myself all day, brought my digital kitchen scales with me and only had 3 weighed slices from a shared proper Italian thin 12" Capricciosa. He then (with virtually no notice) took me out for brunch the next day - I asked for a poached egg on wholemeal toast - no butter - and received 2 (hard, unfortunately) poached eggs on 2 slices of granary toast and he then gave me a rasher of bacon I hadn't asked for... lol... and half a grilled tomato, which I wish I'd asked for, not knowing how dry this would all be with hard-poached eggs, but this was breakfast and lunch and by the end of the day, I was spot-on with my calories and astonished that I'd 'eaten out' for the first two times and stuck to my diet.

I do remember Joan Parsons telling us at Slimming Magazine Club that if you're going out to eat, it's better for some unknown reason for our metabolism if we make up for the calories we've gone over the next day, but obviously we're not the sort of people who are easily able to do that wiithout throwing the towel in, so half before and half afterwards is best. I didn't trust myself at all, so I saved them all up beforehand, of course, so although I slightly shot myself in the foot, metabolically, at least I'm still on it, after 11 solid weeks.

Looking back on the week, I notice there's been less fibre than usual, so this week I'll concentrate on another thing Joan used to say: it's not just the quantity of calories, it's the quality.

I'd really like to be back here in a week's time at 14 st 8, but I'm still full of steely determination, whatever...

Good luck this week, y'all!! xx

p.s. I did post a photo of a slice of the pizza, but it came out sideways for some reason... and you all know what pizza looks like... lol xx
