No reason at all for weight gain,...except... I have begun reading Gin Stephan's new book and found that what I thought was a clean fast was dirty. I have been sipping on spiced teas, taking vitamins with sugar and brushing my teeth with toothpaste that all cause my insulin levels to rise hampering my weight loss. Today I am doing it properly...sad about giving up my tea.....When I saying fasting it is probably not what some of you would think is fasting. I Intermittent Fast (IF)....basically that means I usually only have one meal a day- I IF for 20 hours then have a "window" that is open for 2-4 hours.
Today we should be celebrating my daughters birthday- she is a tad late- got caught up in disastrous backpacking circumstances. I made her a rhubarb cheesecake- very high sugar/fat...but you only have a birthday once a year!

I brew up a big mug of mint tea, chill it and enjoy it on a hot day. Mint tea doesn't need anything added to taste good and it doesn't have any caffeine. Do you think mint tea would affect blood sugar? I plan to have a look at my vitamins to see if there's sugar (artificial or real) so thanks for noticing Aurora2019.

I'm so thankful I found Swerve! It has been a lifesaver for my tea during fasting. i have to have it sweetened

Hope all is well with your daughter! Happy birthday to her. The cold mint tea sounds like a great substitute. Just a few more rainy days ahead.

From what I have been reading anything your brain thinks as sweet causes an insulin release. This totally sucks, however I have reached a plateau in my weight loss so am trying to really be vigilant about what could cause it to be released. Would you say mint is sweet. I do have to find a new tea to sip on through these afternoons..

Mint tea unless it has added sweetener, is by itself 0 carb, sugar free. You'll be fine

Could also just be water weight, which is nothing to worry about all. I myself fluctuate between 1-4 lbs randomly all the time

Don't think of mint tea as sweet. Maybe use the word 'refreshing' in your mind.
