Yesterday was my start with Keto, monitored by my Doctor’s office. This is the start of a new lifestyle for me as I really want to get off my meds. I’m type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure. My last blood work showed my triglycerides within normal range. This time not so much 😳coming in at over 500, yikes! So... here is to no longer having to rely on insulin and blood pressure meds and hoping my cholesterol will work it’s way down into normal range. Excited 😆 but nervous 😬 as I love my rice and pasta. I can do this!
61.7 kg Lost so far: 0.8 kg.    Still to go: 10.9 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

You can do this. There are all sorts of stuff that you can sub for rice and pasta.

Best of luck to you!!! I’m lucky enough to genetically have bad cholesterol and refuse statins. That said, my doctor suggested Red Yeast Rice (1200 mg) with CoQ10 (30mg) as a way to get natural statins in my system. The CoQ10 is good for the heart as well, and so far, so good. When I have my next physical, we’ll see how well my cholesterol responds.

Keto definitely works to reverse T2D - I brought my A1c down within 4 months. I think of it as a selective (not restrictive) way of eating, and enjoy the foods. Good luck!

Try chickpea/garbanzo pasta when you need a fix. Tastes really good and good for you. Fiber and protein.

I love rice and pasta. I found just measuring out pasta helps me control my weight for I LOVE spaghetti and meat sauce. I found out I'd eat 10 oz of spaghetti noodles and 1.5 cups of sauce at a sitting. Can't keep doing that! I am not 25 years old anymore.

Keto is amazing. It has been the most effortless way of losing weight quickly and bringing my blood pressure to normal. I fell off the wagon last year and just got back on the Keto wagon. This website has been a tremendous help.
