I guess i did gain almost 2lbs during the holidays which has me thinking that 1700 cals is not my maintenance cals or I underestimated my calories.

Logging holiday foods is difficult to do accurately. Also, 2 lbs is within most people's maintenance window. Do your typical correction strategies, lose it, and resume maintenance.
