59Carol's Journal, 14 Sep 19

Another week of inching my way downwards. All is good as there was at least one day of eating off my regular routine and it is a bit hard to recover from that craziness!

Today is going to be a bit wonky when it comes to my eating. The good news is that it is only one meal. My daughter and her fellow are doing keto, my granddaughter is vegetarian, my sister and I are following a more calorie oriented plan with low sugar and low fat, my father in law is in early stages of diabetes and my grandson is not on any kind of food plan. Why does this matter? It is my daughter's 40th birthday and we are celebrating with a meal at her place. I am bringing vegetarian baked beans, a keto cheesecake and a boiled raisin cake to the festivities. There are going to be barbecued burgers with a wide variety of toppings including bacon and guacamole. My sister is bringing a salad. I will want to try a small bit of both the cheesecake and the boiled raisin cake because I am curious how they turned out. Those are both super calorie laden. I think if I just have a burger without the bun and moderate amounts of the rest I should be okay. As I said wonky as the meal has to have something for everyone!

So many different food plans at one festivity. Wow! Haven’t been on here for quite a while... wonderful to see your continuing progress.

It was crazy when the food choices were all over the map. I ended up choosing to eat too much cheese for my plan and also tried both the cake and the cheesecake (very small pieces but they add up!). Now I am working my way back down again. The party was very enjoyable and my daughter had a lovely time. I love it when the family gets together.

Sounds like you had a great time. Planning, preparing and plenty yummy foods with tiny pieces. Pretty good choices too!

Thank you Lillian. I hope your weight journey is going well. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts, I appreciate it. I am doing well all things considered. I am truly fortunate that my family and friends are available to me for support. All of them have made a point to ease this difficult transition. I am grateful!
