59Carol's Journal, 20 Apr 19

Well that is a happy drop! Since I was ill last week, I have been slowly getting things back together. I have started eating well, I have been doing a bit of batch cooking, I have got the daily exercise habit happening but not quite where it was at before, and I am drinking my water. Generally back on track again. That feels good.

So my excitement yesterday was that both my sump pump and my septic pump quit. My basement was filled with water. I had no idea what to do as in the past I would just tell my husband, he would go into the basement and a little while later come up and say either it was fixed or he needed some parts for me to go get. Simple. Instead I had to rely on my daughter's partner whose skill set I am unfamiliar with to figure it out. Of course, the system is a bit nuts in the first place and I am trying to remember what I know about it and what pipes lead where and why. He is telling me it doesn't make sense and I am telling him it has worked that way for 30+ years. In the end he figured it out and it looks like I need to get a new septic pump this morning. We just replaced that pump last summer. Grrrh!! Well it has to be done. Fortunately he is willing to come back today to install it. I will need to get the system looked at by a 'real' plumber and see if it can be better set up for the future.

Other jobs are moving forward. I have a person hired to put a new roof on the barn and outbuildings hopefully by month end, I have the motorbikes being worked on, I have a quote for eavestroughing for the two rental units and should be done by mid May, I have sent the papers off to the government for land titles to get changed, I have hired a contractor to reno an income suite starting Sept 1, the art work for the headstone is with the graphic artist and next week I am getting windshield into my car and changing the winter tires! Many things moving forward and that is satisfying.
