Great news! I lost 3.2 lbs!

Now on to the bad news...

My blood pressure has been excellent for the past few weeks. I take amlodipine (generic of Norvasc). I also used to take valsartan, but due to a Health Canada recall in July, I had to switch to an equivalent dose of telmisartan. So everything was going well until last Friday (as is last week, not yesterday), right before my period, when it slowly started rising.

I had my follow-up appointment yesterday and, of course, my blood pressure got even higher.

More bad news: I had blood work done the week before.
* My white blood cell count is low (may be linked to the swelling around my eyes but it can be anything really)
* I am close to being prediabetic (impaired fasting glucose at 5.9 mmol/L - prediabetic is at 6.0 - 6.9 and diabetic is 7.0 or higher)
* My hemoglobin is slightly low but is close to normal and better than it used to be

At least the rest (cholesterol, sodium/potassium, liver and renal function) is fine.

As of Monday, I have started going back to a low-carb diet (this time without all the expensive sucralose-filled shakes and fake food to buy). Aside from some carbs (what comes to mind: vegetables, cream for cooking, some nuts, some remaining in-season strawberries, some almond flour), I am mostly eating food with fat and protein. So I am eating a bit less than before, but it is satisfying and great tasting. This might explain the small weight loss. But my blood pressure is still high, at least this morning.

I usually have a sweet tooth (only the bad stuff, I am not a big starch fan except for dessert), but it is surprisingly easy to transition.

I am afraid to increase my sodium too much, due to my now uncontrolled high blood pressure. As for my potassium, I eat veggies but I do not take supplements due to the "-sartan" medication I have been taking for the last few years.

I worry a bit of what my doctor will say about my LDL that will go up in a few months or so. Apparently diabetes requires a LDL of 2.0 or lower (mine is at 2.55 as an almost prediabetic).
