Pretty good week in that I lost 3 lbs :-) Seemed to have gained some ground on the BM problems of prior weeks by upping my fiber intake. I try for 30g/day and generally get it, even if I have to do it with Metamucil and flaxseed.
Getting pretty close on my basal rates even though I have had a few days of high average BGs this past week and a few hypo incidents, I believe I am arriving at a solution (finally). I believe (at this time) that my major determinator of high overnight fasting BGs (ie: Dawn phenomenon)is too much protein at late supper mealtimes. Keeping carbs at ~12g and protein at < 6 oz has, so far, been a great strategy for waking with normal BG's (mid 80's) after a night of flat readings on the CGM (constant glucose monitor).
Just ate a bfast with 5g carbs, 30g protein, 20g fat, and 15g fiber. That's 9% carbs, 54% protein, 36% fat. We'll see what that does to my CGM reading over the next 5-6 hours (heh hehheh). Also had a nice cup of fresh ground Kona Joe coffee with Torani SF brown sugar and cinnamon syrup and heavy cream. Yummmmn!
Total weight lost in 6 weeks on Atkins is 17.5 lbs. 20 to go to goal. 26% body fat according to the Omeron. My goal is to get under 20%. If I lose all fat on my way to 189#, I should be at appx 18%.
