Today starts week 10 of this diet. Basically, I'm resigned to the fact that this is how I'm probably going to be eating for the rest of my life, and I'm okay with that. It is another learning experience to add to a lifetime of learning experiences. I grew up in a home where my Mom was constantly dieting (Weight Watchers for many many years) and was thin and fat, back and forth, my whole childhood. I grew up to the be same way, always on a diet (or had given up and was just an careless consumption contraption) and always overweight. The few times I did attain a good body-weight, I was so nervous to be there that I'd start eating and plump right back up ASAP. Then I went through a phase of "accepting me for who I am." That worked okay for me for awhile, but the true fact, once I got honest with myself, was that no one should accept what I had become. I had let myself go and "acceptance" was just my excuse for not giving up very bad eating habits. So, fast forward now to my mid-50's. I'm surrounded by healthy, active grandchildren and "Grandma is too tired to get up and come to the kitchen to see your artwork, and no, we can't go out to play right now. Grandma needs a nap." I began to sink deep into depression for all the things I was missing. Then the light came on. Duh! I don't have to be missing out. I don't have to "accept" me the way I am, I can CHANGE ME. So here I am. A little over 20lbs down and that has made all the difference. I played basketball with my 8 year old granddaughter yesterday. Granted, there were no full-court runs, but we chased down the errant ball many many times and we had fun.
97.3 kg Lost so far: 9.3 kg.    Still to go: 31.5 kg.    Diet followed: 100%.
