Johanne's Journal, 15 Mar 18

I went back to 2009, when I first joined FS. I didn’t get really active on the site until July, 2010. That’s when I finally got myself in gear and started food journaling. I hit my lowest weight 18 months later, with a 71 lb loss. After that, I fell into old habits. It’s taken 7 years to slowly gain 37 of those pounds back, but I’m beginning to have real physical difficulties related to that regained weight. I made a chart, listing every month since I started, with the monthly caloric averages for all nine years. I marked the major weight losses/gains beside the calorie averages. I can look at this and see what was working and exactly where I went off the tracks. I’m still eating the correct foods for the most part, just too many of them. If I hadn’t continued to eat the right foods, I’m sure I would have regained the entire 79 lbs back, plus an extra 20, as I used to in the “good old days”. Anyway, here I go again. I ate a ridiculous lunch (weigh-in day), so today is a bust. Another fresh start tomorrow. I meant to get the makings for corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day. We’ll see. A friend gave me a Romertopf pot and I’ve been making great use of it. I think corned beef and cabbage would cook perfectly in it!

Very interesting. I joined 2007. You got me reflecting on my numbers> Plus what we've learned about eating right. 71 lb loss is an amazing accomplishment. I'm joining you on this journey to get back on track and continue on. Happy St Patrick's Day.

Happy St. Pat’s to you too. We’ve been here a long time and I’m pretty sure we buddied up shortly after I joined. We’ve learned an awful lot about proper nutrition. Though I’ve gained about half the weight back in the last 7 years, I haven’t gained back all 71 plus another 20, as I would have done before fatSecret. I really credit this site and what I’ve learned here for saving my life. We’ve got this. We just have to get our heads back in it. Hugs!
