egdw's Journal, 15 Sep 15

It's been an interesting week. I substituted coconut milk for normal milk and after 4 days of this, developed a horrible case of hives. I've never been that itchy or that covered with nasty red blotches before. Fortunately my face was spared, so I could still go to work but with my ugly rash fully covered. The rash is slowly going away and I'm feeling better. Talk about going from the fire into the frying pan! I have noted, however, that despite the allergic reaction, my original symptoms are improving...bloating, coughing, etc. I've realized that I don't tolerate dairy products well and am actually feeling better in that regard. I've also greatly reduced gluten and wheat based products. Not sure if gluten is a problem. The main culprit as far as I can tell so far is dairy (and coconut). I will continue this for a few more weeks and see how it goes. I may even loose some weight. LOL. Thanks guys for all your support. Stay tuned.

Definitely stay away from coconut milk. Very scary. Good news figuring out some of your other triggers. I am thinking of trying Hormone Reset Diet with some ladies from work. I bought the book yesterday and skimmed. It is 21 days and every 3 days it concentrates on a different Hormone issue (one for dairy and gluten, starts with meat) and at the end decide what to add back. I do not have the symptoms you have but I'd like to understand my body better. It looks like a major commitment. Reading your journal is encouraging me to go for it. Keep me up to date on how you are doing.

It will be interesting to see how things work out fo you. Good luck. Sounds interesting. It is a major commitment, but things get easier as you get into it and some of those cravings reduce.
