Interesting that you posted this today as my trainer had this on his blog: Hopefully I will put this longtime training fallacy to rest. Lifting weights DOES NOT make you "bulky." In the absence of a calorie surplus lifting weights WILL NOT cause weight gain. It's the calorie surplus that causes weight gain. Not lifting weights. Lifting is what tells your body what tissue to add. Fat or muscle. In the absence of lifting, a calorie surplus will cause mostly fat gain. So if you are afraid to lift weights because you don't want to get "too big," you won't. Stop listening to the person that doesn't coach people for a living and has never lifted weights a day in their life. Lift weights. It will change your life if you let it.

Supergainz- interesting! I appreciate my coach since he is willing to work with all ages. He used to compete and his best squat was 573#.

Redporchlady, I see many body types (women) at the Gym. Some obviously want to bulk up more than others. There are plenty of slender ladies with nicely muscled legs & arms.

SherryeB- we have the same at our gym. If they want to bulk up they are training a little different than me who just wants to look fit and toned. I don't want someone calling me a skinny chick. I was on vacation and someone in the elevator told me you are fit from head to toe! That I want to hear because we all know how hard it is to get it!
