Out of protein powder. It went on sale today @ Costco, so we waited to buy more, but didn't have time to run down today. So...my after workout lunch is Two Good Meyer Lemon Greek Yogurt, Simplt Granola Oats, Honey Raisins & Almonds & 1/2 plum.

There are many sources of protein you probably already have at home that are whole foods: a piece of chicken, a can of tuna, a cup of milk, a handful of shrimp. Even a cup of Greek yogurt. If you make extra portions of your dinner’s protein, you’ll have your protein snack for the next day. So much healthier than processed protein powder with its fake sweetener and chemicals.

My brother and I had a discussion on that topic, JustBananas. He uses protein powders and I'm not a fan. He pointed out to me that it really depends on what your goals are. I take the plant based whole food route, but I'm not trying to get my protein up to the level many folks are. I know it seems to work for a lot of people, even if it's not my choice

Hubby & I have been having a Protein Smoothie 3 days a week, on the days we work out at the Gym. Bananas, I have been trying to be cognizant of eating more of the foods high in Protein. I was having a difficult time hitting the level I wanted but I seem to be getting better. Writing, Hubby & I are focusing on building muscle. He is 79 & I will be 67 the end of this month. Although I do believe in eating lots of whole foods....& we do....I do use some processed foods for convenience as well.

@Sherry: Have you compared the nutrition in real food vs. processed protein powder products? Your chemical powder is 160 kcal/21g protein. A chemical bar is 190 kcal/21g protein. But a 2/3 cup serving of plain Greek yogurt is 120 kcal/17g protein. A 3.5 oz serving of chicken breast is 165 kcal/31g protein. A can of tuna fish in water is 90 kcal/20g protein. Real food actually has less calories and more protein than your shakes or bars, plus it has no fake sugars or chemicals.

@Wyo: The Protein Powder Pushers get people hooked on their products because they appeal to people that have a sweet tooth and are comfortable with artificial sweeteners and popping pills. A can of tuna doesn't have the appeal like a protein (candy) bar.

That’s so pretty. If I weren’t already loaded up on fruit, I’d be buying those peaches this weekend.

Oops nectarine. Phone does my eyes no favors.

Kat, it's actually a plum 😊 Does look like a peach or nectarine, though.
