Johanne's Journal, 16 May 11

Good Monday morning. It's an absolutely gorgeous morning out. I have no idea why. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I've done my first walk of the day, had my coffee and breakfast, done two loads of laundry and am about to go out and check on my plants.

I'm not sure what is going on with the weather. Last week it was like July, with weather in the nineties. Last night, they were calling for frost. The only plants I covered were the tomatoes, lemon verbena and the rosemary plants. How crazy is this?

My eating patterns are finally getting back to normal. The cravings I had from the Prednisone are pretty much gone. I've quit being so hungry all the time. I sure hope I start seeing weight loss again soon. I even resisted lemon chiffon cake at my son's last night. Anything lemon/citrus flavored is my downfall. I was very proud of myself. Of course, all the others were sitting around eating it and saying, "Ummmmm, yummmmm," just for my benefit. I felt like kicking them all in the shins!

Well, I'm off to do some more chores before I run out of energy. LOL!

Hey Bren, I spoke too soon. Tonight was miserable. I wanted to eat everything in site. LOL! I'm not sure what's going on. It can't still be the Prednisone. Maybe being sick for so long broke my resolve. I MUST get back on track. In this case my life depends on it. Send me lots of love. I'm going to need it, apparently. Have a great Tuesday!

Good morning, Johanne. We had frost this morning, and I had to go out and spray the plants down to wash it off. Think I saved them all from a serious burning. You did and awesome job avoiding the lemon chiffon cake....I would have had a hard time also. And I would also have wanted to kick them in the shins...lol! Hope you have a wonderful day, and please know I am sending lots of love and hugs!!!!!

Jo, major resolve has been lost in many of us lately so you are not alone! I had to go to bed early the last couple of nights in a row so that I didn't eat everything in the fridge. Hopefully you get back on track ASAP!

I totally don't understand appetite... like why sometimes I'm perfectly content at 1800 calories and other times I want to knaw my own arm off. All I can guess is it depends on what kind of food is in that 1800, so I'm trying to figure out what fills me up and what doesn't.

Stef, than you dear. I did have my delicate plants covered, so the frost didn't get them. Pixi, I've been doing the same thing. I take a nap in the afternoon and that kind of nips the hunger in the bud, and I've been going to bed early. I can't keep doing that though. I won't get anything done! LOL!!! Z's, I was doing fine with the things I was eating. I was full and satisfied. I really don't know what has gone wonky. Thankfully, I have nothing unhealthy in the house, so when I do overeat at least I have that going for me. Thanks everyone for the love and the input.

Not really Steph. I'm trying to catch up on paperwork that I've put off. My daughter piled all her stuff in the garage and I can't get to my camping equipment. I was supposed to come camping a bit south of you this weekend. :-) Don't know if it's going to happen at this rate.

Where are you going camping? I am headed to KC on Saturday...my son and his wife are taking us to the Royals game. Should be fun! Have a great time with your camping trip. If you can't get your stuff out because of your daughter's stuff, maybe she could come over and move it for you.

It's in Warrenton, MO. It's a bardic event . . . lots of fun. I'm not a bard, but songs and stories around a campfire are always fun. I just hope it doesn't rain all weekend. The place has a large barn where we can shelter and there will be pavilions, so we wouldn't get wet, but bonfires would be right out. LOL. You have fun too. We always seem to be like ships passing in the night!

I was reading your journal as you wrote this. How funny that we were thinking of each other at the same time. I'm off to make my coffee and then try to actually get something done on this horrendous house. You take care of that back and have a restful day. Hugs back too you!!!

Good morning Johanne! Warrenton is about 30 minutes from my house!!! Darn it! Hope that you have a great time though. Looks like the rains have returned. :(

You have fun too. I think they have made provisions with tarps in case it continues to rain. It's pouring here. One of these days, on one side of the state or the other, we have to get together for a real hug.

Yes we will, and the rains here are staying just to our south, so perhaps I'll get some plants in this afternoon before I take my walk! Cyber hugs for now, soon to be a real one, I am sure!

I'm getting my camping gear together between rain bursts. I hope your planting went well. Love you!
