wholefoodnut's Journal, 25 Feb 14

Good workout today. My left knee has been hurting all day (has a steel rod in it) it's been mostly pain free the past few months. Almost didn't do the leg curls that make it hurt, made myself do them with a little less weight-- it actually helped the pain. Note to self--go for it anyway. Over calories for the day, I'm more about the average for the week.

Wow! That is a lot of surgical hardware! I've heard that stuff always causes swelling and pain, especially when doing physical effort or because of the weather... I've heard of some cases where people felt much better after removing surgical hardware but I understand that it isn't always possible.

Removing per the docs not really an option. My knee they will remove it if they do a knee replacement. Now the inspiration to lose weight and exercise, besides not liking myself, was to avoid that knee replacement. My neck was 4 disc fusion so to try to stabilize that as much as possible to prevent deterioration of the adjoining discs and future surgeries it needs to stay put. So am thankful everyday that I can walk and use my arms. Both things that were highly possible that I would not be able to do.

Thanks, weight loss is just a piece. My goal is to be fit enough to keep doing what I want to. I'm tired of not being able to the past couple of years. And beat this arthritis into the ground!!
