velvetee's Journal, 31 Oct 20

Our last before lockdown weekend, in no particular order:

- this coco thing is my fave for breakfast, probably too greasy/sugary for a lot but it really makes me feel great, here a mix with banana and hazelnuts, yum. I still get to wear my "check" jeans but it's really annoying they closed everything... I can't work out at home...

- the bsdm chicken was great and I kept the "juice" for later. Like I mixed chicken leftovers (a little bit dry) with zucchini and a cube of the earlier frozen juice, it was yumi.

- we had fun near the sea, had some candyfloss, and lit a candle for all the people we love.

- mom is 65! I sent her flowers because I couldn't visit (she leaves quite far). My Christmas visit won't happen now, I think...

I hope you guys do well, I need to do some grocery shopping (I don't stock) so I hope people are civilised and the toilet paper is still there.

Check jeans= when your pudding belly fits into a jeans you bought 10 years ago. I trust it more than my scale 🤓

Well Chris mine is not stretchable 😂 so it’s literally impossible to zip if I go overboard. It’s boyfriend size 32, I wear it as a skinny one, I have a huge gap because my ass is too curvy for regular jeans. Ok too much information 😝

Wifeyyyy, thank you hon. There was a moment in my life, I stopped talking to my parents. I had a very difficult childhood that left so many marks. That's why I am trying to do things right (as right as it can be) with my little troll. I believe that if there are problems between parents and kids, it's the responsibility of adults, not kid. He needs to profoundly KNOW he is safe with and that I love him unconditionally, regardless of his grades, plans or whims. All I ask is respect and communication.

Was reading your text and came to part about your mom's age..and realized I could be your mom! We are close in age...lol You have a good attitude towards how u raise your child. It will make a huge difference in what kind of man he becomes. It's so important to give children the love and security they need so they can develop a sense of self and feel secure in expanding their experiences without fear of failure. It's how they grow.

Chris both myself and my troll do not like chocolate. We prefer respect AND chicken 🍗

Oh Velvetee- so sorry for another lockdown. At least you aren't coming out of quarantine with a fat ass. Cute pics!

I've given up on the gym. I broke down and bought a weight bench, mat and assorted dumbbells It's not quite the same, but I work out safe. Such beautiful flowers and always adorable boy!

The coco thing sounds delicious and the way you had it looks perfect too! You look great in those 'check' jeans! I understand the feeling completely! So sorry to hear that your gym's closed again, but I know you're not too bothered by the isolation of lockdown - hope you get your supplies though! Your day at the sea looked like fun. Candyfloss is one of my faves too - fun fact - in South Africa it's called Spookasem in Afrikaans - direct translation is ghost's breath - so, fitting for Halloween Day (although trick or treating/Halloween is not really celebrated here). I love your boy in that cute denim jacket - so sweet. Although I'm not a mom myself I agree with Diana 1234 that you're doing a wonderful job with him and I love what you wrote in the comments - I agree that it's the parent's responsibility too. I have a strange relationship with my mom where I just don't feel like we get each other at all, but there is still love. Sorry that you won't be able to visit family over Christmas too! I feel very lucky to still be here with them for this season and I'll be moving away in the new year and possibly won't see them for up to a year so I will try to make the most of it. Not sure why this comment ended up being so long... I do enjoy your posts so hope you will keep them coming. Keep well!

Meta, people here don't have the same sense of space compared to the US https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2019/09/american-houses-big/597811/

Niki, thank you so much! I went food shopping yesterday, people seem more civilised. Sometimes, it's hard to connect with our parents, especially when kids experienced neglect and physical violence, it took me years to "forgive". Where are you moving to?

Interesting article, and quite true, velvetee. We are definitely blessed with more room than usually had in European countries. It's also more to clean, the more to furnish, so there are definite downsides. Still, I've definitely lived even here in tiny places and loved my apartment. I'm glad I'm now able to safely workout, though. I don't have a barbell and rack, but I'm getting some of the strength I lost when I had to quit the gym.
