I saw you are on the keto diet. You may want to try fasting as well to help with the blood sugar. You may like Jason Fung "The Diabetic Code" and see him on YouTube about losing weight, keto, and Intermittent Fasting. I also like Dr. Rob Cywes on YouTube. Have a great day!

Hi Shelly, Intermittent fasting has actually dropped my A1c from 10.5 in June to about a 6.5 now. I'm a firm believer in it. My problem right now is remembering to take my diabetes meds along with the fasting routine. My body isn't quite ready to drop the meds yet. I'm working it out! I appreciate your suggestions for more info about the IF. I think every type II needs to know about the fasting.

Hi Tex - yes I am new at intermittent fasting and I need to practice it more stringently. Right now I'm pretty casual about it - I only eat twice a day and usually do 16:8. But during the week I want to start 36 / 42 hour fasts. I think the most I have done is 72. My fasting this morning was 125 which is really good for me but still not ready to drop meds either.

Hi Shelly, This is the first year I have tried IF and I have been so pleased with the results. I haven't tried any of the longer fasts, but just trying to stick with 5/19 (10 am - 3 pm.) daily. Some days it isn't possible, but I try not to eat anything after 5 pm. on those days. Twice my bedtime glucose was below 100 and I was afraid to trust my body not to become hypoglycemic, so I broke the fast with a small snack and then of course over-corrected. It's a learning process.
