My adventure in Montana continues. Getting my exercise is a breeze when I have a lovely place like this to walk. The only difficulty is in keeping my pace when I keep stopping to take another picture.

Photo Description:

1) I walk alongside the Clark Canyon Reservoir.

2) The Clark Canyon Reservoir is surrounded by beautiful mountains.

3) This wildflower is called large-bract Verbena (Verbena bracteata).

4) Another picture of the reservoir.

5) One of the many mountains surrounding the reservoir.

6) More of the mountains surrounding the reservoir.

7) A fisherman in the Beaverhead River.

8) This is the second prairie rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) I've seen this year. Sorry if you hate snakes.

9) This wildflower is called hairy Goldwater (Heterotheca villosa).

10) Here's a callippe fritillary (Speyeria callippe) butterfly on tall hedge mustard (Sisymbrium loeselii).

11) As the sun was setting a distant rainstorm glowed orange.

12) This is a very dark place at night, and the stars fill the sky. I stayed up late last night to star gaze, and was extremely excited when my efforts to get a picture of the Neowise comet were successful. If you haven't seen it yet, see it. It's freaking spectacular!!

I'm sorry you couldn't see it very well, Erq1! It's really mind blowing, especially through binoculars! It literally took my breath away. What a sight!

But the shooting star/comet is awesome. As well as all the other pics. Jelly.

It was right in the middle of the road, breco, right next to our campsite. We had to put our dogs inside to keep them safe. I took pictures with my zoom lens from a safe distance.

Thanks, breco! That's the Neowise comet, and it was a fantastic sight.

Thank you Lonnie, all the pictures that you post are very inspiring. Makes me want to go out there and sightsee; all the Mountains, and the Stars, and the Flowers. Not the snake. Maybe my husband would deal with this snake. Beautiful pictures!

Thank you, skinnyminilinny! I'm glad you liked the pictures, except for the snake! 🙂

another nice set of pics and the comet that is neat. i have always liked to watch the sky since i was a kid and when my son was young we would sit atop a patch on the mountain we cleared for a hunting camp and would watch and count orbiting satellites

How absolutely beautiful!!! I too am so envious you saw the comet so clearly!!!! How awesome! That sunset!!!! Wow, and I can see the rainbow! I went on my laptop to get a closer look. Although I'm not a fan of snakes, it is beautiful and an amazing photo! Looks like it is totally prepared to strike! Yikes! I just love, love all the open space and the flowers and the water... And, and, and... Can you tell I'm dying to get out of the city? 😁 Thanks for posting another window into your amazing world!
