FullaBella's Journal, 13 Aug 13

Second Journal - amazing because I've been busy as all heck in the shop today in between taking care of a very grumpy DH too. Hmmm... must be because I started taking my vitamins again last night. Go B-complex!

Roasted rack of lamb for breakfast (finally!) - seemed to be the ONLY compromise for using the oven (for those of you who read about the great temperature wars in previous journals) was to do so early in the morning. DH loved it; so did Mushy.

Me? I guess I just don't have that sophisticated a palate. I felt it could have been cooked a bit longer; perhaps the first half at a higher temp to get the outside more browned. But it was my first time ever to cook or eat lamb so not bad. I may see if the restaurant offers it on the menu; see how the pro's do it.

On the other hand - thanks to the very high fat & protein (in that order too!) I was pretty much bullet proofed today and didn't need lunch until after 2pm. I'll probably skip 'dinner' completely and just enjoy some seeded grapes, cheese and nuts this evening.

Well, the good news is the college doesn't require anyone over the age of 30 to present a vaccination record so no worry about buying a fake meningitis record on the streets. The bad news is they do occassionally allow old folks without a degree plan on file to audit classes now and then, just not this semester.

So I won't be lettering in 'Art Appreciation' this fall. Oh well. Guess I'll just go to plan B - read a freaking book or something. How boring. But to find the silver lining in all of that I guess that just leaves more money to buy paint & canvas for here at home.

It's probably just as well though; it's amazing how slow my brain works these days. The other day I was thrilled to learn I weigh the same as my 16 year old grandson. Then I remembered he towers over me by 12 inches. Great, I'm an old joke: "You're not overweight, you're under-tall."

Well, there goes the theme to the Lone Ranger and that can only mean one thing: time to go make dinner for DH. God bless TV - I no longer need a clock.

LOL about the theme from The Lone Ranger being your timekeeper... too funny :D Too bad about not being able to audit the class this semester. I don't know how big the classes are in your local college but I know it would have been next to impossible for a prof to figure out there was an extra student in the classes I attended way back when. Maybe you could tap your inner rebel and just show up! Or maybe not... I have to say that I find your early morning meals to be quite a revelation, showcasing the diversity with which we all choose our meals.

I love rack of lamb. We actually cook it or I should say that Steve cooks it on the grill. We put some keg seasoning on it and it is delicious...served with mint jelly. lol on the time keeper...That's too bad about the course. Maybe someone will cancel...You just never know.. Have a great evening!!

Sorry the class didn't work out, but Cathy is right, there could be a cancellation spot that opens up. Or, unless you want the actual classroom environment, you might be abl to find an online version? And, for what it's worth, I think you are perfect just the way you are -- not overweight or under tall! Xoxox

I love starting out my morning by reading your journal-It usually gives me a good laugh. Thank you for that. Any local art classes you can take besides the college?

Oh, Bella, I'm so happy for you. The letter to the doc was beautiful. You have gained agency over your own life. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it but as they say "feelings aren't facts". And the fact is that you took feedback and suggestions and made a positive change in your life - in just one year. Keep going, dearest friend, keep going. I am with you, insipired by you, encouraged by you....and I know I'm loved & supported by you. Thanks for all the laughs along the way.

Thanks everyone - I probably am a bit too old for college but I do like the idea of my inner rebel crashing the class. I can imagine it's probably one of the favorite fluff classes so could be fairly large. I guess lamb for breakfast seemed different but I've been doing that now for about six months or so - deciding nothing has a set time of the day to eat. I'd approached it that way also because of the fact that I always wanted a larger 'dinner' than any other meal of the day; so why not have dinner foods first thing instead of last? Kind of my approach for dessert now too, LOL. You're right though, it is funny the William Tell Overture signals 'feeding time' in Bellawood. He's had such a constant appetite lately (the smaller but more often meals) I am considering a betting pool on which falls off first: the door to the fridge or the dishwasher. In fact, I hear the knife channel on the TV now .. which means it's likely just about 'what do we have for a snack' time. Gotta go.

Hahaha no clock needed - too funny! My dad use to have mint jelly when Mom cooked lamb. I never got a taste for either the jelly or the lamb. I did have a lamb chop once at one of those Brazilian all you can eat meat places that was delicious but it was very salty and very well done. Who knows. I'll have to look into that B12.

OMG - do I know my DH or not? I'd just clicked the 'submit' button and he said 'what do we have for a snack'. I've been married too long but I don't think I'd have the strength to ever break in a new one. I don't know how women do that... maybe their first starter husband was an easier model, LOL
