I think that's why Keto gets such a bad reputation. There are so many people out there who still think it's unlimited bacon & eggs. I remember one of the posts online (not here on FS, not you) that was like 'the more fat, the better.' "Don't go for half & half, get the heavy whipping cream". It was all in promo of keto and never once in the article did the author include anything about maintaining a caloric deficit.

Maybe the whole 'fat adaptation' does work for some and the need for a deficit doesn't exist. I don't see 'how' that could ever happen. Seems to defy science. For ME, and ONLY ME, it has helped me decrease my consumption.

I think what else has helped ME is paying attention. Just because things were 'this way' in Dec doesn't mean they'll be the same six months late. A few months ago, a carb heavy VEGETABLE meal would result in my being hungry again in less than an hour. It didn't satisfy my hunger. Now, it's fulfilling so my body is using the veggies a little better and keeping my appetite in check.

I agree with all of the above. Need to balance both calories and carbs in keto. Hwc is recommended over half and half because the carb limit is so low compared to the calories, is 30 extra calories worth the .5 g of carb savings per tbs? That’s for the dieter to decide. I don’t push people one way or another. I post articles that encourage eating less processed foods but in a nonjudgmental way. I eat Cheetos and I don’t eat keto all the time. My goal as the admin to the low carb group is to help them find a way of eating that fits their lifestyle. Busy working moms with kids may not have the same kind of time luxury as a retired worker to hit the gym or cook gourmet meals. A struggling college student may not have the funds to buy expensive keto products. It’s about YOUR priorities and finding what works for YOU to create that balance. ⚖️

No doubt. I think the other misconception about keto is the cost... if you aren't buying the $$$ keto stuff you're not doing it right blah blah. After a while I figured out that was all bull.. uh.. nonsense. Eggs are cheap. So is chicken. My only advice to people considering keto is 'don't get sucked in by that nonsense.'

The thing 'about' it is the protein & fat help control the appetite so the calorie deficit CAN follow without white knuckling day in & day out. It helped me decrease the need for massive consumption so I recognized a single boiled egg & string cheese (Drag's journal fresh in my mind) IS enough for a lunch. Meals do not have to be the three or four course meals I thought they 'should' be. It's nice, yes, to have a salad, entree, side & dessert ... but to do so means THOSE items need to be smaller quantities, not this super sized bull.. nonsense I was suckered into over & over.

I think our bodies are good at adapting to what we feed it. When I was transitioning from vegetarian to omnivore my stomach would feel heavy after eating meat, now I have no prob with meat.
