It was super quick to make, not very filling. I was hungry again in a few hours.

😍😍😍 I love tuna salad! I have to limit myself to only eating it a couple of times a week though. Too much mercury 😕

Lol I’d be hungry in a couple minutes. No way I could ever do no carb/low carb. I’d pass out somewhere!! My appetite is through the roof. Eating very well and stomach growls so loud. Embarrassing at times! 😮

I was hungry 3 hrs later, I ate some more protein and salad. That held me over for 4 hrs. I don’t know the scientific mechanisms behind it but if I eat carbs, I feel fuller but I get hungry faster and it’s the angry hunger, the kind where the stomach is growling, feeling stabbing pulsing in the stomach, dizziness, hands shaking ... but low carb hunger I can deal with longer, I don’t get the highs and lows or feel sleepy eating. I think it has to do with my predisposition to diabetes.

Moopie - the same here. I can get stuffed and uncomfortable on a salad but within a couple of hours I'm feeling hunger again. I've tried to tell myself that rumbling isn't hunger, it's my stomach processing food. Maybe it is. But I don't get that with protein and fat. I'm like 'hmmm... it's 3pm... I haven't eaten all day...' I think the protein works more for squelching the hunger than fat and it's probably what keeps me out of ketosis but it's maintaining my sugar and I am losing weight, slower than molasses (mmmm molasses) but still losing and not gaining so I'll take it for now.

Bella, protein is essential for feeling full. I see recommendations of .6-1 g/lb of body weight. I noticed when I don’t eat enough proteins, I’m stuffing myself with carbs. Making protein a priority then filling in the rest of my calories with veggies and healthy fats keeps me satiated. I made the tuna salad first and realized the portions looked meager. Fluffed it up with greens and tomatoes for color and volume. I read a recent article on how too much protein doesn’t kick you out of keto contradicting what I knew in the past. Making changes slowly will help the weight from fluctuating too much and messing with your metabolism. I’m learning so much from FS and my FitBit groups also from reading on my own. My weight is up 10 lbs from my lowest in Dec 😱😱😱, it’s muscle and fat. I increased my calories I thought by 300 cal/day but it may be more due to estimating errors. I’m ready to decrease it again. Let’s do this!
