Johanne's Journal, 30 Oct 12

It's Tuesday.

I'm back, I hope. It's been a really bad month . . . a combination of a bad cold, depression and lack of motivation. I can't have that! Got to get back on the horse!!!

I'm so behind in everything. I have a fiber show coming up in Nov and could possibly make quite a bit of Christmas money there, but have almost nothing prepared for it. I've got to get "non-stop" busy if I'm going to get anything done. My work was "juried" on Sunday and I was accepted for the show. I sure wish I had more energy.

I'm restarting my thankfulness challenge because I really need it. I'm hoping some of my friends will join me. It's more fun with company.

It's cold here, but no precip. Our weather is in a holding pattern. It fed "Sandy" and will be in place until Sandy moves out of the way. We're still in drought mode, so at least, no ice. I have been constantly watching the events unfolding on the east coast and my thoughts and prayers are with my family and friends who are mostly there. Except for Heather, on here, I haven't heard from any of them yet.

Well, I'm off to try to get some work done. I think a cup of lemon, ginger tea might be a good idea. Love to all of you, and to those in the aftermath and present path of the awful weather, stay safe!!!

I am thankful for:

Waking up.
My warm, dry house.
Feeling more myself.
The power to make positive change in my own life.
My many, wonderful friends!

Hey Bonnie >>> We finally have our power back on. It went out at 10 AM yesterday morning and came on today by 2:30 PM. Our house has been freezing cold. Our gas fireplace had no gas. Oops. We had 33 degree weather with high winds and blowing snow for three days. Nothing falling now and we might have a few inches but that is all. We cooked out on the camp stove. Coffee was wet and warm. So happy to have heat again. Glad we have the new challenge again. I am taking a few days off to gear up for that. This little bit of stress had me eating the Halloween candy. Oops, again. So happy you are back. You will be ready for the fiber show. WTG for being accepted!!!! HUGS!

That's one advantage to living underground. The year we had 2" of ice and no power for nine days, it never got below 62F. I'm so glad you're warm again! Coffee is GOOD!!! Thanks for joining the challenge. I'll see you when you get back. STAY WARM and snuggle up with hubby and the pups. LOVE!!!

I have to ask - what is a fiber show. Congrats on being excepted - so inquiring minds want to know. And underground...you live underground. I love it! Hope you feel better soon and November will be better for you. :)

Neptune, a fiber show consists of items made of fiber. In my case, those include weaving, felting, crochet, knitting and embroidery. I was supposed to have about 50 pieces (scarves, hats, bags, etc.) ready by now, and I probably have 5 finished. This particular show is juried and held in an expensive neighborhood, which means only well made/designed pieces make it into the show and you can charge much closer to what the items are worth. Everything MUST be handmade and designed by the maker. I'm hoping to at least make enough to pay my entry fees this year. As for living underground . . . when I was a child, what I live in would be called a basement. Now they are called "earth contact houses". LOL. Three sides are underground and the one that isn't is a southern exposure. It collects sun all day, which makes the house toasty most days and normally keeps the temps above freezing. In the summer, that side is shaded by trees, so the design is fuel efficient most of the year. It also feels a lot safer during tornado weather. The bedrooms are underground and therefore fairly protected. I'm feeling better, just not very energetic. I have to force myself to action. I hope ALL of us have a great Nov, and stay healthy and safe. Hugs my friend!!!

Your house sounds amazing! Good luck on getting all the product made. Just take it one step at a time and it will be less overwhelming. I'll definitely be re-joining the new challenge. I think it will help me to get back in gear on the weight loss.

Thanks Erin. The recluse spiders think my house is amazing too! (It's that whole basement thing.) LOL! I'm glad you're rejoining the challenge. I know I need it. It's one of those challenges that isn't overwhelming, but keeps you mindful. When I stop keeping track (FS), I start dropping back into old habits. I've done it the last few weeks . . . not good!!! Hugs and I'm happy you're on board.

I joined! Let's do this. I am in a Biggest Loser Challenge at work and am on a team of 4. One of the girls said she just didn't want to gain over the holidays - I'm like "hey girlie! This is war - I want to win! Luckily there is no $$ involved or I would be on to a new team.
