Gaining 0.7 kg a Week
08 April 2024
First full week of restarting my weight loss journey. Spent the full week eating like I normally do so that I can recognize patterns and take notice of the SUGAR and the CARBS that make up my diet so that appropriate changes can be made: cut down on the processed sugar in coffee, avoid syrups and sauces (I'll have to stay away from waffles for now--maybe eat only twice a quarter) and of course unnecessary snacking of junk food is off. Now adding some moderate exercise activity this week.

Journaling can be powerful in the pursuit of your goals. By regularly recording your thoughts, feelings, and your progress, you will gain insight into your motivations, track your progress, and stay ACCOUNTABLE. Whatever your weight loss and fitness goals may be—, journaling helps you stay on track because it reminds you how much meaningful progress you've made toward your goals so that you're motivated to keep going toward them.
Research has shown that writing down goals and creating a plan to achieve them can increase your likelihood of success by 42%. A 2007 study on the impact of commitment, accountability, and written goals on goal achievement found that those who WROTE their goals down accomplished significantly more than those who did not write their goals but simply formulated goals in their minds.
Studies also show that setting specific, measurable, and challenging goals can lead to improved performance and achievement. Specific and challenging goals lead to a higher level of performance than easy or general goals, along with feedback and participation, which lead to higher levels of performance. That is why it is advisable to have someone who has a similar goal to yours to participate with you in exchanging feedback and updates on one another's progress. The very process of watching your achievement unfold is what brings happiness--more so than reaching the goal.
To make the most of your goal: TRACK your progress. Stay ACCOUNTABLE. Identify and remain AWARE of any challenges and obstacles you will surely encounter along the way. But stay MOTIVATED and INSPIRED by looking back on your progress and accomplishments; by doing so, you can remind yourself of what you have achieved so far, which will allow you to stay motivated to continue working towards your goals.

Today I restarted my weight loss journey for several reasons. The first reason is because my sister jumpstarted everything as an accountability partner. She always motivates and challenges me to try, do, and wear different things. The second reason is to better control my blood pressure and cholesterol readings because weight/obesity is a main contributor of heart disease in women. Finally, the third reason is to look better! Weight makes women look OLDER and for every 20 lbs we lose, we can look 5 years YOUNGER! Next entry, we will go through why JOURNALLING during your weight loss journey increases your chance of sticking to your weight loss goal!
