So excited! I have lost 6 more pounds in 3 days~ Total now, since Dec. 2nd, 41 pounds lost!!

I'm following my gastric bypass food program to the "T" !!

I eat 2 ounces of soft food, focusing on protein, water, and vitamins, and one protein shake per day with 8 ounces of skim milk.

Protein options & food choices are of: Canned tuna in water, canned chicken in water, baked chicken with fat free chicken broth, reduced fat cheese, light cottage cheese, fat-free refried beans, 98% fat free ham or turkey breast from deli, Greek light yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, mandarin oranges, pineapple. At least 64 ounces of water per day, along with any sugar free, non carbonated drink.

I walk with my walker around the house, and have been a lot more active since losing the 41 pounds, less pain in my joints, off my blood pressure meds, and just feeling a heck of a lot better than I have in 4 years~

I went down one size, and treated myself tonight to my 1st manicure and pedicure, with a spa massage on my hands, calves and feet! IT was amazing! I deserve this!

Yesterday I was at 321, and just now I weighed in at 320!!

So, now I've lost 35 pounds in 31 days!

I'm adapting well to this program /Gastric Bypass-Stage 2-Soft foods!

I think for dinner I will have either 1/2 veggie burger and 1/4 cup applesauce, or leftover grilled haddock with the applesauce.

I'm only allowed 2 ounces of soft food per meal, a total of 6 ounces of food for the whole day.

Since I'm on water pills, and losing weight, along with being on a thyroid med, the PA in the hospital, told me In addition to my 2 ounces of food per meal, she wants me to have 1/2 banana in the morning and at night.

Seems like her suggestion is NOT preventing me from losing weight!

At this rate, I'll be in quite a few pairs of jeans, that have been hanging in my closet for over 4 years! YAY for me!

I'm so pumped, and excited!! And, I'm proud of myself, for committing to this program, and not cheating. It's SO worth it!

I started out on December 2nd, at my pre-op weight in at the Bariatric Dr's office, at 355 pounds.

I have suffered for at least 5 years, with severe spinal stenosis and have been unable to walk or stand for more than 10 minutes without an extreme amount of pain and pressure. It all started with back pain, and then I had been previously diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis and Degenerative Disc Disease and arthritis.

I had a double fusion surery on L4 & L5, and a decompression of S1, back in 2008. I still, even after surgery, suffered with chronic pain, arthritis throughout both knees, and back.

I was unable to exercise, and was not on any diet. I also started having hip pain in both hips, and found out I have end stage arthritis in my left hip, after having so much weight on my hips, along with my other joints.

After only one year, my arthritis had gone from 25%, to 100% in my left hip. The Dr.said, after you lose ALL of your weight, even though you're just 51, I will do a hip replacement, because it's that bad.

My left knee has also been diagnosed as end stage arthritis.

I decided in January 2013, after being hospitalized for Congestive Heart Failure, and COPD, and being so swollen with pitting edema , that I had to do something about it quickly. I was in the ICU for 2 days, and was very sick.

My weight prior to being admitted in January, was 392 pounds.

I had discussed GBS surgery with my physician, and he agreed that it would be the best way to lose the weight and keep it off, to enable me to be healthy, and be able to walk, and not be in such pain, 24/7.

I was released from the hospital back in January 2013, and had lost 30 pounds of fluid.

I started a low sodium, low fat diet, per my Dr's instructions. I was able to lose some weight.

However, as I have in the past, I lose the weight, and then fall off the program, and seem to always gain it back.

I researched the Gastric Bypass Surgery, and found a Dr. I did qualify with my insurance, with a BMI over 53, along with my other medical issues.

I just had my surgery, December 10th, and at my pre-op appointment on Dec. 2nd, 2013, I weighed in at 355 pounds.

As of today, 1/10/14, I now am at 321 !!!

I have lost 34 pounds in about 32 days. I feel wonderful, I am walking better, I have been taken off blood pressure meds, reduced the dosage of my water pills, and have gone down one size already!

This surgery, has saved my life, and I'm also starting Aquatic Therapy in a few weeks, to strengthen my core, and my muscles, and add exercise into my daily routine.

I also am taking less pain pills than I was before.

I am using this forum, to be accountable for my actions, regarding my weight loss. I hope this site, will help me track my food intake, and help me stay on track.

I welcome any comments, and would be happy to talk to anyone that is interested in this type of surgery.
