Sigh...
Well, I went from being temporarily laid off to being permanently laid off.
So - I took a good week to relax and think of how to approach this. How do you look for a job when how many thousands of other people are in the same boat? How does one stand out? I'm trying to stay positive, but man - it's tough some time.
So - I'm keeping up my routine - getting in a workout every morning. Coffee, an hour's workout, breakfast, then hit the computer to job search. Today was a session! It'll be interesting to see if I hear back from any of the applications I submitted.
A few weeks ago I started adding ground flaxseed to my morning oatmeal. It's a super yummy addition, but I started to break out like a 13 year old! Research revealed that some people react this way. Don't assume that you will, but something to keep in mind. Within two days of suspending the addition of ground flaxseed, I can literally feel my skin calm down.
I keep track of my food and weight on this site, but I'm not looking to lose any weight. I like keeping track of my fibre and protein intake. I've lost a few pounds as I haven't been mindlessly noshing during the afternoon, or with that afternoon coffee (or two). I've been walking a LOT more, which has been awesome! I've discovered some things in this downtown Edmonton neighbourhood of mine that I've never noticed before! It also gives me ideas on companies to look into.
It was too windy to go outside today. I hate the wind. I've been having trouble sleeping lately - I swear I'm up about 15 times a night, just tossing and turning. Cat doesn't even try to cuddle anymore - he just takes up a pillow and observes from a safe distance, LOL!

My daughter was over Saturday for a belated Mother's Day get together. We did a walk through the Legislature Grounds before deciding to grab takeaway at Grandin Fish n Chips.
If you're ever in downtown Edmonton, do yourself a favour and check out this little gem! Parking is a b*tch, but try residential parking westwards a couple of blocks, or else just plan to walk. The haddock is amazing, their fries are perfect and the tartar sauce is spot on!
So that was my belated Mother's Day treat. I don't eat there very often (despite the fact that I live a block away, LOL!), maybe only once a year, but it's worth it. I'm pretty 'stick to the plan, ma'am' otherwise.

Up at a reasonable time to get in an hour (plus a little extra) of weight training. I need to pick up a set of 5lb or 8lb weights for a couple of moves. I have 10lb and 12lbs free weights, and 15lb kettleballs already; an 8lb medicine ball, and a handy dandy Gaiam back roller which is essential for a lot of core work (great for situps, etc.) Can't find ANYTHING on Amazon now, LOL!
Walked to Whyte Avenue to hit Bulk Barn (sale on natural almonds, and they have the BEST). No Frills for grapefruit. A beautiful day, although it kinda looks like rain now. My phone calls it 5 miles, which I'll take.
Home to my usual mid-afternoon snack.
