The cold is causing so much trouble. Vehicles won't start even though they are plugged in. We went into town for a battery for hubby's truck. There were none to be found. The guy at Costco said he sold 3 months worth of batteries in 2 days. I must have hit the battery pack to my heated jacket when I was chopping ice out of the creek because it no longer heats up. I ordered another one immediately. I need my heated jacket! Those bulls better appreciate my sacrifice.
Hubby came in from his 2am herd check and the alarm to the septic was beeping. Just what we need.
Thankfully it is supposed to warm up.

It's 52 below with the wind chill. Calves are dropping. I'm cold and I'm tired.

My smart scale arrived. It has so much info. The best part-I lost 1.4 pounds. And I "linked" my phone to the scale on my own. Usually one of my boys want to double check that I did it correctly. I'm not quite as helpless as they think.
I'm glad I bought a new remote for the DVD player as the cold has arrived. Not much snow, but cold enough the schools are closed. And definitely too cold to walk outside and I like walking with Leslie Sansone.
With the cold, I've been baking and cooking more.
Made Korean meatloaf, 2 ham and cheese quiche, date walnut bread and dark chocolate cherry scones. Hubby gave me an America's Test Kitchen cookbook for Christmas. I love cookbooks, but this one is huge. Hard to keep open on the counter. It does have great recipes, though. I send a lot of the baked goods to the bar for our customers. Hubby's labs were not good at his last doctor visit. So I bought a bag of Stevie sugar substitute. We'll see what he thinks. He's just so picky. Only whole milk, full fat cream cheese, etc.

Happy New Year🎊. Our night was low key. I made air fryer chicken wings and we watched football.
I stepped on the scale and, of course, I am 3 pounds heavier. I have two trips planned that should motivate me. My girlfriend and I are going to Vegas in March to celebrate her 70th birthday and we're taking the family to Florida for Christmas 2024.So I ordered a smart scale and a remote for the DVD player that disappeared. Now I can walk inside as it is starting to get cold. Still no snow, but lots of thick, dense fog that doesn't burn off until late afternoon.
My granddaughter got me these herb keepers for Christmas. I think they are cute and they seem to work. She was so excited that her dad got her the kayak she wanted.

I am so blessed, and while I may not always feel fortunate, I know I am. I am thankful for all those who are strong enough to do what I can't. Those who dedicate themselves to burn victims or NIC units.
I didn't get on the scale for the last week, but am pretty sure I packed on a pound or two. I'll face the music tomorrow. Do I sound like Scarlet O'Hara?
My husband has had a problem with his D3 levels since he had his first bout of Covid. He's back on mega doses for 8 weeks. It's interesting as he spends quite a bit of time outside. I carry a lot of resentment towards Covid. I miss our New Years parties. We had lots of friends and family over for drinks, snacks, bon fires and fireworks. The grand kids will spend the night with us as our son is working. It's a big night for our bar. We might set off fireworks. Just depends.
Best wishes for a wonderful new year!
