So yesterday was eventful. I woke up with the worst head pain to date. I got up around 9 and took the narcotics that my GP prescribed, but even by 11:30 nothing had made a dent. I called the doctor's office and left messages for the doctor on-call. After talking to my mom and boyfriend and spending too much time crying and rocking back and forth trying to breathe through the pain, I decided I just needed to go to the ER. My wonderful SO took me. My mom met us there. They were able to dull the pain a little bit with their typical cocktail of a steroid, pain reliever, and anti-nausea medications. It was a god send. They also pumped me full of saline to re-hydrate me and warned me that it would add some pounds for a few days. So that's why I have the big jump this morning. I still woke up with a headache again but they gave me enough meds to get through the week when I see a neurologist.

The other relief is that the ER did a CT scan and didn't see anything obviously wrong (tumor, bleeding, etc). So that's a relief. Now we just have to figure out how to manage the pain so I can function like a normal part of society.

I need to write myself a bit of an apology. I'm sorry I haven't been faithfully tracking my eating. It's bad practice and certainly won't help when I go see the neurologist and psychiatrist next week.

But here's why: the headaches haven't stopped. Every day it's still there. Sometimes it moves but it's always near the front of my forehead. Even though I haven't been tracking it faithfully, I have been staying hydrated and I've been eating mostly keto friendly food items. My energy level is all over the place, thanks to the pills.

First I was prescribed Tramadol and Prednisone. Neither helped very much.

Then I was prescribed Butalbital-Acetamin-Caffeine. That made me feel depressed and I spent a lot of time crying over nothing.

Then I was prescribed Rizatriptan. It helped but I was only given 12 pills, and after taking two a day, I was out in less than a week.

Then I was prescribed Sumatriptan (Imitrex). It helped as well, but I was only given 9 of those, and taking two a day I was out in just a few days.

I'm unable to get refills of those at this time because it's too soon. So NOW I have a narcotic nasal spray, which is just awful. It dulls the pain but it tastes terrible and only lasts a few hours. It's been making me feel light headed and dizzy and unfocused. I don't like it but it's my only option right now.

Oh, and with all that, I've been taking Amitriptyline, which knocks me out at night and makes me feel super groggy in the morning. Also one or some combination of all these pills is making me feel like I'm starving.

And with all this, I've been afraid to get on the scale. I just can't face it right now.

Next week can't come soon enough! I plan to ask about Topamax. I've heard good things about it.
