WOW. Like many, I've gained weight in the last weeks. I had lost 20lbs last year, and gained back a few since the Holidays and being confined with the pandemic, not working, etc. I had made efforts to lose weight while taking good habits that I would enjoy (taking walks, fun exercise, lots of proteins and veggies, and always tasty food!). Especially since I am prone to excess with food (I was anorexic for a couple years, then bulimic, and got better 8 years ago), I took my time losing the weight.
I know it is all part of a process, but this setback feels like a failure. I am generally an optimist, but that's how it is. And the worst is that I feel no motivation at all to get back to it. 😔
The truth is I started taking antidepressants a couple months ago. It was long overdue to take care of my mental health and lasting depression, and I have to say the medications helps a lot. I had only one anxiety attack in two months when I used to have 3 a day. The downside is that, since I don't get stressed often, I don't care much about things I should care about, and so when I feel like snacking 2-3 days worth of calories in one evening, nothing stops me...
I don't really know what to do. I am still grateful to be able to access medication when I need it, and to be supported by my partner, friends and family. I just fear that in this new situation, I might lose all the good progress I had made, all this hard work from last year (and I did not have many wins in 2020).
