Recommending Capretta Nonfat Goat Yogurt from Sierra Nevada Cheese Company. Creamy and really tasty--great, easy source of protein. Not marked organic or no BST, so I called the manufacturer and talked to a real person. It's a small artisan operation, with a solid sustainability policy that you can read about here: http://www.sierranevadacheese.com/green_farming.php

They source their goat milk 2 miles down the road from local dairy farmers Ed and Hailey Fumasi. I like to know where my food comes from! In my experience, "organic" is not always the best answer--knowing the farmer is. Sometimes local farms with good practices don't participate in the organic regulations process, and sometimes certified organic farms can have practices that I'm not crazy about.

Ideally I will visit them one day to confirm their information, but so far so good.

I'm here because yesterday I found out I'm a "skinny fat person". I'm 5'4", weigh 125lbs, I'm an exact size 4, and am often complimented on my body. I was a dancer and still dance, can still wear my Levis from my 20s (I'm in my 50s). I feel fine. But my body fat percentage tells another story and so do all my other health statistics. This has happened because I eat too little--when I started adding up my average day, it was usually no more than 600 calories. I don't eat junk, I like food, but I don't eat to nourish my body. Most of the time I just have a million excuses not to eat. I have a 9-year-old daughter (who eats really well) so I am going to start following her example.

My goal is to eat to nourish my body so that it can do everything it needs to do to keep me healthy and enjoy my life.
