Sick! I keep doing the same stupid things. Going to Mom's house and eating peanut M&Ms and Hershey's chocolate nuggets. I feel positively ill. The urge to stuff my face with those chocolates is overpowering. I have to focus on how to overcome it. I know my mom will never give up filling those jars so I have to find the will within myself.

Just walking into my moms I feel like a scavenger. It’s the worst. My mom must’ve decided I’m fat enough she doesn’t push it on me anymore. Lol. She likes a lot of meat on our bones... meanwhile she’s a peanut.

I can totally relate! Can't stay away from mom's, but she's always got some kind of "goody," if she has chocolate - lookout! Willpower will be hard to muster.

Substitute the candy for something more filling/healthier. Spoonful of peanut butter with almonds, or a protein bar, or avocado on wheat bread with tomato, or oatmeal with fruit. Etc. find something for you that you enjoy which will prevent you from going through the constant candy cycle, maybe have 1 chocolate nugget and then eat a healthy snack or something, which will help ween you away from the cravings.

Um, Mom, you don't happen to have a spoonful of peanut butter with almonds do you? Or avocado on wheat bread with tomato? She's not going through a "constant candy cycle"... if you actually read her post, she's triggered by going to her mother's house and being faced with jars of candy. Unless you are suggesting she keep oatmeal with fruit in her purse for those trigger moments, you didn't address her issue at all... it's not cravings, it's habit and expectation.

I have this problem too! Keep on trying to overcome it. And I see some great advice here I can use. Thank you so much for bringing this up. Prayers for us all ☘️

Very hard to resist a habit from being at Mom's house but it has to be done. Convince yourself that the candies are bad for you, because they are. Eat a cocoa granola bar before you walk in the door, carry a strong flavor of that clashes with the chocolate flavor, brush your teeth as soon as you are done eating. You are in charge of you, not the candy! Good luck.

Could you keep a protein bar in your purse so when you feel the need to eat chocolate you could have that as a mind trick till you can work thru it?

something that legitimately worked for me was telling myself that 'I don't eat that'. sometimes saying it out loud helped. even asking mom to put it away when you come over is a possibility. stay strong, you got this.

I find that coffee helps, and be well rested!

Allow yourself to have 1! Every single time! Don’t put the candy on a pedestal. It will only make you binge on it more. Plan to have one every time you see her, and really savor it.

Have an apple before you go. fill up so you wont be as tempted? Or just pretend they're evil poison bites! Don't do it!😊lol jk.

Some people can't stop at just one, kind of like how some alcoholics can't stop at one shot. If you can stop, put a certain number of them into your menu and factor them into your day. If you can't stop them ask your mom to put the candies away when you're there.

make sure you're never hungry when you go there. drink water while you're there. bring sugar free jellos or something to replace it...the trick is to never make yourself feel deprived because that back fires and you can gorge as a result

I guess I am lucky - my mom is also on a diet, she doesn't give me any food unless she tells me how many calories are in it!

Try popping a piece of gum or a hard candy in your mouth when you arrive. That often helps me curb cravings and gives me an excuse if someone offers me something I'm trying to avoid or limit.
