Up at 4:00 this morning. Although it was about 62 degrees outside, I headed for the treadmill. Just didn't feel like navigating the wind and the dark. Did 4.0 miles with the incline set at 1%. Worked up a good sweat. Would have been an uneventful run, if not for the following happenstance: As is my normal custom, I had the safety lanyard hooked to my shorts. I was in my groove and stepping out. Right as I topped 3.0 miles, my arm hit the lanyard, breaking the magnetic connection with the treadmill switch, causing the belt to come to an abrupt stop. How I hate it when that happens! So I started back up where I left off, the damage had been done. I wouldn't be breaking the olympic record today. Darn the bad luck!

That is so annoying isn't it?!?! Why I almost never use them. Unless I feel really wobbly (from injury or residual soreness) or plan on running fast. Ha. That's never!

Got on the elliptical last night for the first time since January. Starting out slow but hope to be in full workout mode again by the end of the month.

I hear you all; and no, I did not do like in the film clip. Just thought you'd get a kick out of it. It just interrupted my rythm by coming to a halt and having to start again. I didn't use the safety device and then I did; then I didn't. I'll probably give it up. The worse that can happen is like in the video - which I would rather happen. I would just go off the back; there's pleany of room behind the machine. Hell; if I did, I would probably be dead and wouldn't know it anyway. :D

Better to have an accidental stop and step forward than to fall back on a treadmill. The thought of that has always freaked me out. That is why I'd rather run outside on a nice day than the treadmill. Keep up the great runs. Stick to your pace. P.S. I wrote down your plan from skinny's journal. Thanks for sharing :)
