DairyKing's Journal, 19 Feb 12

The last two or three days have been rather frantic, with holding one-on-one interviews at work, dealing with retirements and personnel transfers, reworking job schedules, etc. However, I did manage to get in a 4.3 mile run on Friday, and a 5 mile run this morning. We were up pretty late at a benefit auction last night. Although I have been pretty active outside of the office, I haven't been all that disciplined in keeping my journaling up to date. I haven't been practicing everything I've preached, and I have nobody but myself to blame for my mediocre weight loss performance. But I forgive myself, and myself has accepted my apology, and I just have to get on with it again. Getting to be a real chore to run 1.5 to 2 hours on the treadmill. I have to seriously consider moving my running outside. Possibly do some 30-40 minute HIIT hill workouts once or twice a week on the treadmill.
My wife's surgery is scheduled for Thursday, the 23rd, and I have taken Thursday and Friday off. We will see, after the weekend, if any of the family chips in to help, and whether I need to take any additional time off from work. She's been up and down emotionally, and I'll probably need a rubber room myself in a couple of months once we get through the next 5 weeks of treatments.

I think it's admirable that you've been able to keep up your workouts through such a stressful time in your life. You and your wife are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you Kelsey! Sometimes I think that the running is my way of dealing with the frustration instead of turning to food. At least, I can justify an extra snack or two when I burn so many calories. :)

My pastor's wife (my best friend) has gone thru just what your wife is facing. I myself had a lump removed however it was not cancer, so no followup radiation treatments for me, but yes, for my friend. The waiting - the stress of it all - wayyyy worse than anything you or she will be facing. All of my prayers are with you both right now! God's Blessings of Healing and Peace - you're wife is strong! She's going to do just fine!!!

Keeping you and your wife in my prayers. With running, once I went outside I could never run inside again. It was too boring. Stay strong.
