DairyKing's Journal, 27 Jan 12

Kind of dragging a bit this morning; stayed up a little too long studying last night and only got 4 1/2 hours of sleep. Ran a fairly easy 4.3 miles this morning, but I was looking forward to it being over about 10 minutes into the run. Needed to burn the 800 calories though - especially after yesterday's relapse. Mr. Coffee had died yesterday morning, so after work, I went to WalMart to get another coffee pot. Once I was in there, I could tell I was going to indulge in something. I rationalized that it was a better choice to hit the chicken wings at the deli, rather than some unwholesome prepackaged, sodium and preservative infested bundle of non-nutritious filler. So, I got a diet coke to compensate for consumption of the unplanned pound of jumbo chicken wings that somehow found the chasm between my pearly whites. Once home, I found little solace in the fact that I had made a better choice - as I sat eating the barbecued ribs that my wife had prepared for me. Oh, what I tangled web we weave! Yes, the run was necessary, and though painfully long - it was, in reality, too short.

LOL.... So made me laugh DK..... All those chicken wings AND THEN ribs!! OMG... I bet your wife didn't know about your "little" slip up..... At least you are disciplined enough to do your run to make up for it. :-)

Ssshhh! I didn't want her to feel unappreciated for all the work she put into supper. I felt really bad about the fact that I wasn't really hungry any more, so I ate smaller portions, but I did eat what was fixed at home. Yeah; I am disciplined . . . and then I'm not. That's why I'm here.

You have a gift for imagery... Thanks for giving me an early am giggle! Hope your new coffee maker works out, thus keeping you from further indulgence... The chicken wings were likely a better choice.

Well done on the run, DK, in spite of how you felt. Love your accountability.

Disciplined and not. Isn't that why we are all here? Because we are human but not delusional about it. ;-) Speaking of protien...we smoked several chickens last week while it was only twenty below, so we have lots of easy access. This post made me want that for breakfast. LOL.

Mmmmm! The smoked chicken sounds delish! Having a Super Bowl party at the church with a chicken wings contest. Wifey is going to try making them for the first time. Whether she is successful or not, I will get my fill of wings. I mean, they don't count if you eat them at a sporting event, right? :D
