Up at zero dark thirty again this morning. Did a relatively easy 30 minute walk on the treadmill. Back down 1/2 a pound to 228 where I'll probably be until the next breakthrough. To ensure that doesn't happen too quickly, my team had a big fat, warm, fresh-from-the-bakery apple fritter waiting on me when I got to work. One of our interns is leaving and brought them in as his farewell gift. I couldn't bring myself to be rude, and reject such a goodwill offering. LOL. Of course, I can't let this influence the pizza luncheon that I am throwing tomorrow for the other team member that is retiring. Oh, the sacrifices I make for my people! Well, I'm just going to have to ensure that I don't allow these excursions on the wild side to spawn a feeding frenzy.

LOL. It's all about educating ourselves in moderation. I have observed that, thin people do "pig out" sometimes BUT, they then eat very little.... So on average, they are consuming the correct number of calories. They can also "leave" food on their plates when they are full - something I am trying to master.

I hear you. I am working on the same thing. It just doesn't seem natural to leave food on your plate "considering all those starving children in china" LOL. It's not just about counting calories; it's a lifestyle change of making better choices. I don't always eat right, but when I get a craving, I almost always have a choice, and I'm learning to sometimes just pick the lesser of two evils.

DairyKing... I now try and put my knife and fork DOWN after each mouthful.... Chew my food properly and only when I have swallowed, pick my knife and fork up. We ALWAYS eat at the table now (before we often had a tray on our laps in front of the tv) so that I can concentrate on the food and savour it more. By doing all that I find I recognise when I am full.. It is still hard to leave stuff on my plate - but I tell myself, eating when I am full, is not going to do me any good and certainly won't do starving children any good either. I remember as a kid, we didn't have loads of money and "starving" children were in the news all the time - my parents would say - "eat up, you don't know how lucky you are - think of all those starving children in 'x'". I did it to my kids too ..... I know now how that affected me, and how it impacted on my kids... Bad news.... When I am cooking, I don't cook stuff to "use it up"... Not saying I waste food, because I don't... For example, if I open a can of beans, I won't cook the whole can - just the portion we can eat - the rest goes in the fridge. That has been a discipline to get out of the mindset of it's only a couple of tablespoons, I may as well tip it all in..... - now it goes in the fridge.
