Tropical Storm Lee is beginning to make an impact here, although not as much as in Louisiana, from the info on the Weather Channel. DH got the dogs out for a walk right after a rain band went through, when it appeared we'd have maybe an hour of dry weather.

Not to be deterred, I went out and walked 3.1 miles, only getting drizzled on periodically. I figured it wasn't much more than some extra sweat would be, so no need to abort the mission! There were a handful of other folks out and about walking, biking, jogging, or walking their dogs, so it seems we all were trying to take advantage of what dry weather we could.

Yesterday, and even late on Thursday, it seems everyone heard the weather forecast and set out to mow their lawns. Even the lawn services seemed to be everywhere, frantically getting done what they could in advance of the rain. I managed to get our lawn mowed and edged so it wouldn't be a jungle by the middle of next week when the rain hopefully, should end.

I tried out a new vegetable a few days ago and learned a lesson. I bought Pictsweet Edaname & Sea Salt. No butter, no sauce, no cheese. It's a frozen veggie that you just steam in the microwave and eat. Technically, you have to shell all the beans first because they say the pods are not to be eaten. Well, these guys are really good, but I thought they were extra sweet. The ingredients turned out to be edaname, sea salt and a slight percentage of maltodextrin, an additive that imparts a sweetness. It's not an artificial sweetener or sugar alcohol, but it IS a carbohydrate. I guess this is just another example of the food industry adding sweetness or sugar when it's not necessary. I'll probably still eat this item, but I was disappointed.

Great job on getting your walk in...and I hate it when they think they have to add salt, sugar etc. to everything...and if you buy stuff with not added in the label it cost more...I mean thats one or two less they have to add so why no be cheaper...Oh well just another thing to make money off us who want to live healthier...have agreat rest of the weekend girl.....Bren

Kudos to you for actually reading the label...I have purchased that brand, different veggie, I wonder if they do that to everything? I really wish they would just leave nature alone! I had really assumed frozen veggies, were exactly just that...frozen veggies. I guess I will be reading those label in my freezer...they better not be having additives, or I can see myself buying a new chest freezer & going on a freezing fresh veggie binge! You did great getting your walking in, I have learned to enjoy my "alone" time. BTW, for tunes, I was able to get a memory card in my cell phone so now it doubles as an Mp3 type for music, so no extra monthy expense.

Bren, I agree...they could just skip the additive and then price it cheaper. Hope your weekend is drier than mine!

GG...Good to know about that memory card option. I thought the same as you that frozen veggies were just plain ol' veggies that were frozen, unless they touted a sauce or butter or whatever on the front photo. Live and learn!
