A friend of mine was vegetarian and started doing an elimination diet To see what was bothering her body. She ended up a carnivore and lost ours all sorts of weight.

However, the doctor on YouTube who advocates evidence-supported carnivore doesn’t seem to be very evidence driven to me. It’s supposed to be very easy.

@BottomLine... There are several different carnivore doctors on YouTube. Dr. Chaffee, Dr. Berry, Dr. Baker are some that I have listened to. There are several more. Basic carnivore includes anything that comes from an animal, except bee vomit (honey) & milk is ify. Then, you have the Lion diet. This a complete elimination except beef, salt, & water. Many people go there & experiment with what happens with the body & mind when trying to add back 1 thing at a time after coming to baseline, including other meats, cheese, wtc. Many end up staying on the lion diet, because when you get really meticulous, you are not only what you eat, but what you eat eats. In particular, some people that have difficulty dealing with grains. Grass-fed beef is gold standard, but cows have a 4 chamber stomach that digests the grain differently than other animals making it less contaminated (for lack of a better word) from eating grains. Currently, I am in a challenge that only allows beef, bacon, butter, & eggs, but that is not the complete carnivore diet.

There is no need to be this meticulous, especially when just starting out on carnivore.

...and many people have no problems at all with EVERYTHING carnivore.

You are very welcome, dirtroaddevil! ...and just a heads up, if your diet before this was not keto or at least low carb you might go through kind of a sugar detox for a 2 or 3 weeks when you will feel like 💩. Some people do, some don't. Don't think that's because of carnivore foods, it's actually the opposite. Extra fat & salt will help. If you can pull through those 2-3 weeks, many benefits are on the other side.

@ZenusWarriorPrincess I've been eating low carb again for a few weeks so hopefully it's not so bad 😁

Zenus— Yep, it was one of those docs you mentioned. OK a lot seems evidence-based, but too much doesn’t appear to be, or has a very small sample size. I would say that he is worth “following“ but take some things with a grain of salt. But, It’s been 2 years since I looked at his stuff. (Sorry to dirt road devil, I couldn’t figure out how to put this on Zenus’ site.)

@BottomLine... I have a very open mind, but I take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt...lol. I experiment with myself. 😉

Electrolytes will be beneficial. Good luck! The carnivore diet intrigues me, I’m interested in hearing your results. I do low carb. I’m type 2 and manage it through food only. So far, so good.
