IMO, the best tasting and most nutrient dense part of an animal isn't its muscles, it's the internal organs. Heart, liver, lungs, bone marrow, spleen, brain, and intestines are all tasty to me and are very important if you're trying to be a true Paleo eater. Cavemen ate almost every part of an animal and wasted nothing.

A great observation! I hear people say they want to be paleo but couldn't kill most of the animals they eat. If you couldn't kill it, gut it, and clean it - you probably shouldn't be eating it (in my opinion). In the U.S. especially a lot of the animal is not consumed as food (well, not packaged and sold as a food item, but there are always hotdogs). I'm not Paleo but I am Metis and I get sick of hipsters saying they're paleo and buying big hunks of "grass fed" steak. What about the rest of the animal?

I wouldn't advise consuming hotdogs, since they're full of preservatives and nitrates. One of the leading cause of inflammation in some people are preservatives in foods, especially processed meat. I'm allergic to the preservative Sodium Nitrate, so I don't touch hot dogs, bacon, or any processed meat. I read the labels of any meat that has been labeled to "last longer than 1 week" in the fridge, because chances are they have harmful preservatives in them. I agree with the "if you can't kill and gut it, you shouldn't be claiming to eat paleo," because paleo is more about eating "wild plants and animals" than anything. If you were to be suddenly thrown into the wild, would you be able to recognize and sustain yourself eating wild plants while setting up traps and/or hunting for animals? If the answer is no, then you're not a true paleo eater. If you can't bare the thought of killing an animal yourself, then you don't deserve to label yourself a paleo eater. Luckily for me, I've been desensitized to the death of animals because my parents were old fashion and we had chicken, ducks, pigs, and cows that they'd kill, gut, prep, eat, and store some for later. When it comes to survival, animal rights does not apply, because animals are not "entitled" to anything for free. Nothing in life is free Just like everything in life, you have to "earn" your living. Humans did not get to the top of the food chain by just merely munching on grass, I'm sorry, but whoever said that has been watching too many Chimpanzee Discovery Channel episodes. Our brains have been specifically developed for hunting, not with our claws or teeth, but with strategy and tools i.e. spears, bow and arrows, traps, and fishing hooks.
