BabyYin's Journal, 20 Dec 22

I have been going through alot lately with my emotions and yes I lost those 4 lbs a week ago but since then I have gained back 10. I am so ashamed and disappointed in myself that I let it go. It's really hard for me this time of year. December 16th was the anniversary of my daughter and on the 2nd of January will be the anniversary of her death. plus being broke right now just trying to get back on my feet after a breakup. You fall behind and it takes months to get caught back up.

Get that blood flowing and oxygen circulating - Helps with the funky mood and you will feel a bit better. This time of year is hard for a lot of us (myself included).

Don't let a small set back, deter you from your ultimate goal. Pick back up and continue doing the right things. It's all about habit and routine.

I think most of us can understand emotional eating...otherwise, we wouldn't have a weight issue at all! When sadness is all enveloping, just focus on something that reminds you of who you are, and if not sure, find that again. One simple thing can bring back a memory of bliss...or read a good book or watch a favorite old movie that brings you to a simpler time, if only for a little while. A mental break is as healthy as a food choice. Everyone has failures, if not for them, we wouldn't appreciate getting back up. But also remember that sometimes you just need to be still and rest.

Now, I don't 'hide' my sadness with the food. I just acknowledge that eating this stuff, although it reminds me of them, is really not helping me. Now I just go ahead and enjoy those happy memories - mindfullness is the key. Oh yeah I remember cooking the big family holiday dinners (I just loved it - I cooked all night.) Sometimes I even cook deserts or specialty dinners as a GIFT TO OTHERS in memory of my family.
